Gladys White Obituary

Gladys Fern White, 94, of Colorado Springs, entered her eternal rest February 24, 2011. She was born June 9, 1916 in Rush, Colorado. She was the daughter of Oneas and Viola Johnson, and the wife of Raymond White. They were married for 52 years. Her parents and grandparents came in covered wagons from Columbus, Kansas and homesteaded in eastern El Paso County and raised a family of 9 children. She graduated from Truckton High School where she played on the basketball team that won the state championship for two years straight. Gladys is survived by her son John White, wife Joann, and her daughter Shirley Brown and husband Bob. She is also survived by grandchildren Curtis White, Julieanne White, Sheri White, Robbie McBroom, Ron Dietrich, Trish Dietrich, Chad Stephens, and Alan Brown. She has ten great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Her family should also include the staff at of Wynwood Assisted Living, for the love and care they gave her. She was preceded in death by husband Raymond White, sisters Stachia Hitchcock Schubert, Elsie Crum Hopkins, Youtha Payne, Mable Payne, Edna Murphy, Emma Wilson Harper, Dolly Mitchell and brother Marion (Bud) Johnson. Visitation will be held at Memorial Gardens Chapel 3825 Airport Road at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, March 1, followed by services at 1:00 PM.
