Glen Eric Hoffstetter passed away on the morning of Thursday, November 18, 2021 at his home in Falcon, CO. He was 54 years old. Glen was born the third of four children to the late Charles and Esther (Aljets) Hoffstetter on March 5, 1967 in Alton, IL. Surviving are his loving wife of 32 years, Sylvia; daughters Samantha (Tyler) Prentice, Michele (Tyler) Beardsley; grandchild, Andrew Parrott; sister Liz (Kevin) Saul, brothers Chuck (Paula) Hoffstetter and Van Hoffstetter; and nephews Nathan Hoffstetter, and Jared and Aaron Saul.



In addition to his immediate family, surviving also are mother-in-law Della Mussey, sister-in-law Brandy Presley, brothers-in-law Art (Lauri) Mussey and David Kent, nephews Troy Mackley and Chris Mackley, and niece Joy-Lynn Carlson as well as many great nieces and nephews.



A graduate of Roxana High School in June, 1985, Glen had served as a trumpeter in the school's marching band. He would continue his pursuit of music after enlisting in the United States Army in August, 1985 where he was hopeful to join The Old Guard. The following year he would meet Sylvia while the two were stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. After months, the pair began dating, falling in love, and building a life together. Glen would marry Sylvia Mussey at St. Paul Lutheran Church on February 11, 1989. Following his honorable discharge from the armed forces on March 21, 1991 the couple moved nearer to her family in Colorado Springs, CO. It was three years later that they welcomed home their first child, a daughter, Samantha. And in the summer of 1997 the family was graced with a second daughter, Michele.



Now a family-man, Glen continued the tradition bestowed unto him by his father Charles, of traveling the world with his family. Joining the greater Hoffstetter clan, not a year would go by without the group venturing across the United States and beyond. Glen and his family enjoyed visiting national parks and monuments, even twice taking in the sights and awe of historical European destinations.



As his daughters began aging, Glen resigned from the world of retail sales to spend more time with them and his wife, Sylvia. He opted to serve his family and the community by driving for local food bank Care and Share since 2006. Glen was fortunate enough to walk both of his beautiful daughters down the aisle before his untimely passing. The girls would often joke that they each married a man named Tyler to "make it easy on him."



At home, Glen was a dedicated hobbyist. He found joy in a variety of activities from playing piano with his grandson, to panning for gold, each weekend was an opportunity for a new adventure. Despite an uncanny knack for poor weather days, camping and hiking were favorite pastimes for Glen. When the sun was shining at home, he'd set up a myriad of solar panels so he would "never pay to charge a device again." Shooting pool with family and friends was another favored recreation. Like his father before him, he'd lounge the nights away in an oversized recliner. Perched next to him you'd be sure to find an aged, original Big Gulp cup filled with Coca-Cola. The now souvenir cup, as any member of his family can repeat "they don't sell them anymore," was as much a part of Glen's appearance as his wolf shirts.



Frequent family gatherings were a fixture in the Hoffstetter household, even if not under the best circumstances. Glen was never one to openly discuss the melancholy parts of life. The most anyone ever got from him was jesting, "Only the good die young, so I'm gonna live forever," followed by a mischievous laugh. Glen was a considerably greater man than he gave himself credit for, and for that he will be surely missed, forever.



Visitation will be Monday, November 29th from 3-7pm. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 30th at 10am at Swan-Law Funeral Home in Colorado Springs.
