Dear Cousins, Glen will always be sadly missed by all who loved him. His kind personality was patient and dear. There are many of us who knew him for the many years of his life and are thankful to have shared his life, even the brief time we may have had with him.

Good morning dear friends: 9/13/09
I was hoping that there would be a lot more people writing in this Guestbook.
I love to write in Guestbooks, I even like reading strangers guestbooks!!
It usually talks about the good ol days we had with the departed one.
Fun, interesting stories to read.
It can bring all of us that was present at the occasion right back to that time. Put a smile on our faces as to just how much love was generated in just knowing that person.
Glen did not start growing, fast, until the summer before our freshmen year. Then he grew so much, 3 sizes in one summer! The year before our 8th grade picture I was even taller then the teacher!!
As a man he was a lot to hug, swift at work or anything that he was doing.
He did whole-heartedly.
Even at death's door, he was preaching.
Did you know that?
Answer please, share your memories, your thoughts, and your pics.
Always, gladys

The night of April 24 I received a phone call from Launa that Glen’s white blood count was very high and that would be very damaging to his brain, and that he was in Hospice.
The call was made at 11:30PM. That was the worse night of my life. I prayed not only for Glen but for myself that I would be able to withstand the loss. At 5AM the phone rang again and I saw that it was Launa so I did not answer the phone thinking that she was going to say that he died.
I retrieved the message at about 9AM and Launa said that he was much better, I was so relieved that I went back to bed crying and thanking Jehovah.
Then, I noticed a piece of paper, like a whisper on the floor. On that paper in Glen’s own handwriting was this strengthening poem,
The Rose
It is only a tiny rosebud
A flower of God’s design
But I cannot unfold the petals
With these clumsy hands of mine.
The secret of unfolding flowers
Is not known to such as I
The flower God opens so sweetly
In my hands would fade and die.
If I cannot unfold a rosebud
This flower of God’s design
Then how can I think I have wisdom to unfold this life of mine?
For the pathway that lies before me
My heavenly father knows
I’ll trust him to unfold the moments
Just as he unfolds the rose. – glen Meritt – 2009
(I FOUND THIS WRITTEN IN GLEN’S HANDWRITING 4/24/09)
I don’t really know if he is the original author, and I don’t really know when he sent it to me, but what I do know is that anything can happen with earnest prayer to Jehovah.
That poem brought so much joy to Launa and Glen when I faxed it to them. The nurses made dozens of copies that same day and it was on the internet almost even before the ink dried.
Glen loved to write poetry and Launa saved them all in a book, ask her about it.

bunch of beautiful flowers that she said God made for us. After I dropped her off at work I walked home alone and saw some guy trying to start on old Maverick that remended me of Glens remember his the front seat wouldnt even sit upright so his solution was to put a spare tire behind it to make it sit upright LOL

Uncle Glen (not my uncle my wife Donnas well mine tooo) cracked me up one day he sent me out to prune a plum tree well he always had real beater cars and truck and he sent me in the dump truck which had notorious bad karma I don't know how many accidents were really caused in it but this day I took my daughter son and wife to go get the plums as we were going over the Alaska duct highway right over Farmers market I could see something in the rear view mirror flashes of silver things that turned out to be the lug nuts on the front tire shearing off whithin seconds the whole front tire flew off and we were riding on the rim till the truck finally came to a stop. The family was of course horrified Cassie cryin Donna screaming Jeremy laughing? We had to walk off that highway to the nearest bar and wait for him we never did find the tire and were just praying that it didn't hurt anyone in the market. Also there was the time we were pruning a hedge in ballard when the brakes failed the truck and it rolled down the hill and took out two cars and another hedge. Then there was the time a bee flew in his mouth and he took out a couple cars. One time he was lookin at his paper work and accidently hit a lady walking wellshe wasnt hurt bad at all and agreed to let him give her a ride home for $20 well little did he know she was a "working woman" so he gave her a ride $20 and witnessed to her the whole way.
I'll share more later hope these stories I shared weren't inappropriate
With Love to all

GLEN WASN’T THERE, YESTERDAY
..AT THE CONVENTION AT THE TACOMA DOME, JUNE 25-27.
HE DID NOT “VOLUNTEER TO TAKE THE LEAD WITH THE CLEANING CREW” LIKE HE HAD IN TIMES PAST AT WHATEVER CONGREGATION THAT HE WAS IN FOR THE LAST 48 YEARS”, HE PROBABLY NEVER MISSED A DAY OF BEING THERE.
HIS PORTRAYAL OF ILLUSTRATIONS AT THE MEETINGS, HIS VOICE, HIS LAUGHTER IS MISSED.
WHEN WE WAS BORN, I CAME FIRST, THE LARGEST THEN GLEN THE RUNT.
THE STORY GOES THAT LEONARD, OUR OLDER BROTHER SAID, “TWO BABIES, TWO BABIES”, SO WAS OUR ENTRANCE INTO A FAMILY OF RAY AND INEZ MERITT.
I KNOW THAT JEHOVAH HAS A YEARNING TO BRING THEM BACK TO A MIRACULOUS LASTING FUTURE, IN THE MEAN TIME I LOVE HEARING THE HUMOROUS STORIES OF HIS EMPLOYED LIFE.
PLEASE WRITE, CALL TO VISIT ABOUT MY TWIN, GLEN.
AGAPE,

Glenn will be missed for now, but not later. I always enjoyed his no-nonsense way and he will have the fullfillment of the hope he cherished.

To all of Glen's family, physical and spiritually. It was such a privilege to call Glen a dad. He was such a unique person with a heart so big it couldn't contain his personality. I couldn't have asked for a better stepfather. While it was hard to let him go to Colorado last year, knowing that he brought so much joy, love and spritual strength to all who knew him there made it much easier to let go. I will miss him every day until the resurrection and as he and my mom both talked about....what a "back together again" party we will have in the new system. My love to all of Glen's family and friends. Know that his family here in Morton will be listening in on his memorial talk today and that our prayers are with the congregation there that loved him so dearly.

Glen will be missed by those of us in Riverton Heights cong in Seattle. We loved him as an elder, brother and friend for many years, and saw he and Micky when we went to stay with Lynn on Bellicum Peak. I saw him in the best of times and the worse of times. My husband worked for him for 7 years and saw many sides of him. I am glad I took the time to call him and talk with him when he was coherent, and the one thing he mentioned is that he asked the nurse if she wanted a bible study and she said yes. He will be back. He made it faithful to the end. Tukwila, Wa

My uncle was like a father to me. He pretty much raiased my brother Danny and I along with mom (Gladys) I will always remember loving just sitting on his lap. He took great pride in taking me and my friends roller skating after the meeting on Sunday. I have so many wonderful memeories. He had a truck with big side panels and took a bunch of us skiing one year and I remember sitting in the back with sleeping blankets it was so fun. He was very strict about not letting us watch tv and about studying every night as many times as I didnt care to do it he always had me laughing in the end one time I ended up laughing so hard I pee'd my pants.(Well maybe that wasnt necessary) and he took me and my frind Leilani for our first driving lesson and I ended up hitting her in his car I think I was about 14 once again laughing until I.... well. Working with him on his landscaping jobs was also alot fun for me. Although my uncle was about the worst driver ever. LOL. He was so much fun to work with and always made work fun for me when I was in my teens made sure I had work and money. I never hated that. Oh and we loved goig to Wendys for lunch and he always had extra onions on everything and had onion breath all day. (was that inappropriate???) that iwas him. It makes me laugh to think about it cuz I loved his hugs and kisses but UGH the onion breath. Sorry if that is offensive. Not meant to be its a sweet memory for me. My uncle was one of the hardest workers I ever knew and had the biggest heart of anyone I've ever had in my life. As I said I so loved sitting on his lap then when my daughter was born and around him I felt almost jealous to have to share it with her.. Then the last time I saw him at aunt Mickeys memorial I shared his lap with my daughter AND Grandaughter and I loved it. My love goes out to all of my family in memory of the greatest man I've ever known. Love Donna Sue Sheppard Black

Tina and Elaine & I send our love & prayers. We love you very much.
