Glenas Beer Obituary

Glenas E. Beer, a former resident of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and retired registered nurse, passed away at Willow Tree Care Center in Delta, Colorado, on November 8, 2005. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, November 12th at the Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Cedaredge, Colorado.  Interment will follow at the Cedaredge Cemetery. Glenas Eudora Beer was born on February 23, 1929, in Florence, Colorado, to Bill and Ida Beer of Coal Creek, Colorado.  The family moved to Florence, Colorado, where she attended McCandless Elementary School and graduated from Florence High School with the class of 1947.  Glenas was Head Girl in her senior year.  She furthered her education and graduated as a registered nurse from Corwin Hospital's DePaul School of Nursing in Pueblo, Colorado. Glenas worked as a nurse in Odessa, Texas, the Salida Hospital, and St. Francis Hospital in Colorado Springs.  She worked as a civilian nurse at Fort Carson for 30 years and retired as Head Civilian Nurse. In 1990, she retired and moved to Cedaredge, Colorado, in 1991 where she made her home.  Glenas did volunteer work for the Cedaredge Senior Citizens and was a founder and board member of the Friends For The Cedaredge Animal Control.  She took animals to the Horizon's Care Center in Eckert for the enjoyment of the patients. Those grateful to have shared in Glenas' life include her sister, Bernadine Wellington and her husband, Dick of Cedaredge, CO; two nephews: Brad Wellington of Cedaredge, CO, and Bill Wellington and his wife, Linda of Summit County, CO; three nieces: Marka Ann Wellington of Colorado Springs, CO, Coy McTernan and her husband, Hugh of Arlington, VA, and Carrie Gruver and her husband, Bob of Mountain Home, ID; and several great and great-great nieces and nephews. Glenas was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Fern Alwyn; a brother Lloyd Beer and his wife, Nelda; and a nephew, Bobby Beer. Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made in Glenas' memory to Friends For The Cedaredge Animal Control, c/o Cedaredge Town Hall, P.O. Box 398, Cedaredge, CO  81413. May God wrap his loving arms around Aunt Glenas as he gently takes her home. She'll be welcomed in heaven by her mother and father, brother and sister, her pets and all the people she has taken care of over the years.
