Glenn Lorang Obituary

Our loving father, grandfather, and friend passed away on May 23, 2009. He was born on August 14, 1920 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane, WA, as were all of his ten children. Glenn grew up on farms, near Kahlotus, WA until age four, and then near Tenino, WA. After graduating from Washington State University with a degree in Journalism, Glenn served in the U.S. Navy during WWll. He met his future wife, Dorothy Coleman at a USO dance in Chicago. They were married in 1946 and shortly thereafter moved to Spokane and began raising their family Glenn worked for KHQ Radio and Television doing broadcast farm reports until 1955 when he went to work for Farm Journal Magazine as the Northwest Field Editor. In 1971 he was promoted to Western Field Editor and moved to Colorado Springs, CO, where he lived for 37 years. Glenn retired in 1985 and spent his time traveling and enjoying life and family with Dorothy until her death in 1999. He moved back to Spokane in 2008. Glenn had many hobbies and interests including hunting, fishing, mushrooming, photography, and collecting. He is survived by his children Michael (Sherry), Patrick (Barbara), David (Bonnie), John, Stephen, Mark (Cheryl), Dennis (Susan), Mary Bedee (Gary Dobson), Teresa Davison (Jim), and Nicholas, thirteen grandchild and step grandchildren, and many friends and relatives. Our family would like to thank the many care providers and friends who helped Glenn and the rest of us through recent times. My three daughters Jennifer, Jodeen, and Jackee and I we´re remembering Dotty and Glenn who were their "Grandparents " and so loved this past week at our little reunion. They both gave us so much love and attention during the 1980´s and 1990´s. We moved to Boulder then and only visited a few times per year after that. I will always think of them often with much love.
My best wishes to all of you !
I hope you and your families are all doing wonderfully.
I have two three year olds and two babies from the three girls. I love being an Abuelita!
Con muchísimo cariño,
Carmen

Grandpa Glenn was the most wonderful "Grandfather" to my three daughters, Jennifer, Jodeen, and Jackee. He loved and nurtured them and taught them things about family and nature and adventure and God. He, along with Grandma Dotty, were such special people in my life. I miss them very much. They were not only grandparents" to my girls, but dear dear friends and advisors to me as I was a new mother, wife, and later when times were more dificult for me as I went through my divorce. They were always there for us. Even Mike (my exhusband) called them occasionally to get help and advise from them. My own father had passed away when I was 20 and my mother was a Peace Corp volunteer when my babies were little. Glenn and Dotty fulfilled the role of surrogate parents for me as well as grandparents for the girls. I loved them dearly! My deepest condolences to all of you. I send my love. I hope that we can always stay in contact. God's peace and blessings
