Glenn Rydman Obituary

Glenn David Rydman, age 85, passed away Tuesday, June 11th at Penrose Memorial Hospital. He was born April 28th, 1928 in Aloha, Oregon to Oscar and Hulda Rydman. He was the youngest of 5 children that his mother raised alone after his father passed when Glenn was just 3 days old. At age 18 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and spent 2 years active service and 3 years inactive and received an honorable discharge in 1953. He was married April 19th, 1958 to Dena Wilson, also of Aloha, Oregon. They had two children: daughter, Kimberly and son, David. Glenn spent the majority of his working life drilling water wells for R.J. Strasser Drilling Co. His work took him all over the Pacific Northwest, including Alaska. After moving to Colorado Springs in 1986, he and Dena were the owners of Right Price Cleaners. Glenn is survived by his wife, Dena; children, Kim Grant and Dave; son-in-law, Earl; and grandsons: Brandon, Spencer and Taylor. His only living sibling is Betty Ryman of Beaverton, Oregon, and he was preceded in death by his brothers: Bert, Paul and Gordon. Glenn and Dena are members of First Lutheran Church where Glenn volunteered there for most anything that was needed. He was also a faithful volunteer for Marion House Soup Kitchen as well as Habitat for Humanity and had many good friends with both organizations. Glenn was a faithful, generous loving man who put anyone's needs before his own. He will be sorely missed, but his family is confident that he is with the Lord Our God. Memorial Service, 1:00PM Monday, June 17, 2013, First Lutheran Church, 1515 N. Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs, CO 80907. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to First Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 1515 N. Cascade Ave. Colorado Springs, CO 80907; The Marion House Soup Kitchen; or Habitat for Humanity.

Linda and I were so blessed to have absolutely wonderful neighbors, Glenn & Dena, for over 12 years on Vasquez Circle in Colorado Springs. We lived three houses from them and Glenn and Dena were always at the neighborhood parties. Glenn always had his smile on. We so blessed to know him. Our prayers and thoughts are for Dena and the family. Thank you, Glenn, for being a precious part of our lives. Love, Steve & Linda Koeppen

Dear Aunt Dena,

Uncle Glenn was the best uncle a girl could ever hope for. Funny and tender and always interested in the news of a young person's life. I will miss his hugs. He teased me so about my boyfriend and then welcomed my husband warmly into our family. We are remembering Uncle Glenn and Dad fishing with our sons in Central Oregon. How he enriched all of our lives!

Sending our love to you and all of your family.
Susan and Stacy.

Dear Aunt Dena and Kim,

Uncle Glenn was all that a girl could ever hope for in an uncle. Funny, tender, thoughtful and always interested in whatever news you had to tell him. His loving hugs will be sorely missed. Remembering how he teased me about my boyfriend but welcomed my husband into the family.

Remembering him and Dad fishing with our sons in Central Oregon.

Sending you our love,

Susan and Stacy

I also work at the Marion house kitchen but did not know Glenn except to see him in the kitchen. A pleasant man.
