Glenn Slocum Obituary

Glenn Allen Slocum, age 83, of Colorado Springs, CO passed away September 22, 2005. Glenn was born January 9, 1922 in Ellicott, Colorado a son of the late Harrison Leroy and Florence Belle (Salladay) Slocum.  He has been a resident of Colorado Springs all of his life.  Glenn was a member of the Roswell Community Church. He was a carpenter by trade.  He also served his country during WWII as a Gunner's Mate in the U. S. Navy. Glenn was a member of Sertoma, lifetime member of VFW 4051, Eagle Lodge and Rodeo Cowboy Association. He was Past President of Colorado Natives. Glenn played basketball for Ellicott and also played in the Navy.  He had a passion for horses, was also active in bowling and Square Dancing. He is survived by his loving wife, Estell whom he married on January 9, 1987. Glenn is also survived by sons; Harrison Allen Slocum and Glenn Allen Slocum, Jr., daughter; Gayle Patrice Voiles, step-children; Judy Freeman and Jim Freeman, a sister; Lucy Wasson, and sixteen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren. Glenn is preceded in death by a daughter; Dayle Beth Adriani and brothers, Raymond, Roy, Clarence, Carl, Lee, Stanley and Leonard. Visitation will be on Sunday, September 25, 2005 from 2:00PM - 4:00PM at Evergreen Funeral Home, 1830 E. Fountain Blvd., Services will be on Monday, September 26, 2005 at 10:00 AM at Roswell Community Church, 2728 Beacon. Interment will be at 2:30 PM Monday, Fort Logan National Cemetery, 3698 S. Sheridan Blvd. Denver, CO Glenn loved his family and friends.  A message from Estell, "I miss holding your hand.

Dear Estell,

We thought Glenn was a tremendous person with a smile and an outgoing personality that was contagious. He always had a kind word for us each Sunday while we were at Roswell. We certainly missed you folks after we moved from the area. May God bless you.

My memories of Glenn go back 75 years ago when my parents and his used to get together to visit. I have lots of good memories of our school years. Glenn will be missed by a lot of people.
