I heard your name called out yesterday along with the other names that were lost way too soon. Some tears were shed. One person standing there reading names said something to the fact of this. Time is suppose to heal all wounds, but time has not healed this one. To me this has been quite true. You are missed

Another year and more tears. For some reason this year seems harder than some of the others. I guess add in the pandemic and I don't get to the memorial anymore as a mater of fact I don't go anywhere.. Well I'm thinking about you Glen, and memories are as hard to go over in my head as it is to think of your life coming to an end in such a tragic way, while knowing how much joy you had for life. I am just so sad for your family and friends that go on day to day without your presence
With all love and peace

Kai and family,
You don´t know us. We didn´t know Glenn, but we took our then 11 year old to the memorial in 2019 and she gently reached out to trace the letters of Glenn´s name. We have strong family ties to Colorado and the mountains so when I read Glenn´s memorial I knew that his name stood out to her for a reason. God bless you all on this 20th anniversary and every day. May your pain be eased knowing that others continue to remember those we lost that terrible day.

Well I am back, they just said your name at the 9/11 memorial. Missed last year lot going on. My job retired me and I was a little lost. This year is quite an interesting one with social distancing and all. I am watching the memorial on TV, and when your name comes up I get very emotional. Any way I have fond memories of us as young kids when our families would would get together
Thinking of you

Well I'm back again, I see you had a visitor, glad I am not the only one who comes back for a quiet chat. Some year this has been. Now your are with your Mom and Dad, my Aunt Violet and Uncle Eddy. This is so sad of a day I have trouble just getting up, and then going to work is even harder as my mind keeps wondering back to you as a youngster, and and what could have been. Well just wanted to stop by and say God Bless

Missed you on this site last year, not sure why, but did not forget, and you were in my prayers. Anyway I am back this year, crazy, it is just not right this happened. I see not many visits anymore, sad. I see your dad is getting a little more need of help, maybe his trial in the assisted living community will suite his needs and then he will be closer to your brother Scott. Sorry babbling on. I will be here next year and add another thought
Much love

On this very sad day I always think of my cousin Glenn, sometimes even when it is not 9/11 I think of him. When I was younger we did get together quite a lot on holidays and other occasions, then my family moved to Washington State where we sort of drifted as we no longer had family gatherings, because of distance . I did not know Glenn as an adult but as I read things about him he sounds like he was quite a fantastic, interesting adult. So today as I have done for the past years I listen for his name to be read and send all my love to his family and friends. Glenn you will always be remembered

We were Central High class of '75 classmates. But the class was so big I only knew him by sight and name. My memory of him was walking past me in the hallway talking to someone and smiling. Sad to hear he was a 9/11 casualty. I wish the best to his family.

I loved Glenn! We met in Aspen and spent a ski season together in 1988-1989. I have a photo album full of his pictures. He came home with me in the spring along with others from Aspen and more memories were made. I think of him all the time. I couldn't make his funeral but sent a friend to the service in my space. He sent me the program with his beautiful picture. I will always remember his contagious laugh!!! May he rest in peace.

As we read through the tributes to Glenn our thoughts goes back to the visits here in Roscommon with your family and later with your friend Casey. These were such memorable and fun times. It saddens us as we now approach the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 atrocity where Glenn lost his precious and full life. We remember him as a fun loving and great character. Our prayers and thoughts are with Edward, Violet, Christine, Scott and the extended familiy.

As we find ourselves 4 months away from marking the 10 year period since 9/11, recent events have rekindled the emotions so visibly evident in the immediate aftermath of that September day. It is almost incomprehensible that
it's been 10 years. We all have our legacies; Glenn maybe more unique than most. To think what Cortland would have been like not knowing Glenn (and Danny and Casey)would have made for a significantly less spectacular experience than it was. As with most things in life, when you look in the rearview mirror, you tend to get a better perspective on things. Never as true as in this instance. Raise a glass this summer and toast the joy of life. It is much too fragile to take for granted. Carpe Diem !

I lived next door to Glenn and Casey at Cortland in 1979. They were both so funny. They always had us laughing. I am saddened by their passing and send my condolences to their families and friends.

I got today's alumni paper here in Seattle, WA and I saw Casey Clines passed away. I looked online and found Glenn died at the WTC on 9/11. I have lived in the Pacific NW since shortly after leaving Cortland in 1979. I have had little contact with those I shared such good times so long ago. That doesn't diminish the sadness I feel tonight...
Rest in peace, fellas

I met Glenn once, long ago when he visited Ireland. He was maybe thirteen years older than me but was charming and friendly to his chubby little cousin for all that. It must say something about him that I can miss someone that I only met once.

I felt like I didnt give Glenn a chance, and right as I started to accept him in the family, and I finally realized he was the best thing that happened to my sister, he was gone. That's the guilt I have inside me. I know Glenn was the most talented and intelligent person I know, and had a good attitude towards everything. He accomplished so much in his life, if he wanted to do somthing, he would go and do it without anything stopping him...and he would take my sister with him. I wish to god he could come back, for my sister's sake and her son. Kai, I love you to death, and if I could do anything to bring him back to you, I would do it in a heart beat.

Our little boy turned ten today. You would be so proud of him, honey. Not a day goes by, not a minute goes by, that we do not think of you. To the Family and friends of Glenn Thompson,
I just wanted to let you know that my thoughts were with you on September 11, 2002. The University of Pittsburgh had a beautiful tribute for those lost that day. Thousands of flags were positioned on the Cathedral lawn, each flag representing a lost American. I had the honor of getting the flag that represented Glen Thompson. At the end of the day, the flags were removed and I was able to retain ownership. I would love to send the flag to the family of Glenn.
Take care
Greg

Glenn Edward Thompson was baptized and later confirmed his Christian Faith at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church in Valley Stream, NY. Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with his parents, Violet & Edward Thompson and their family. Glenn is a fine example of compassion and understanding towards one's neighbor. His life reflects a wonderful sense of giving and caring about people always. His joy of life is reflected in his interest in the outdoors and all of God's creation. His love of family is reflected in his support, presence, and generousity. Glenn sets an honorable example for us all to continue his legacy in the same manner.
In God's name,
Pastor Gail

I did not know you or anyone else who passed away the morning of September 11, 2001. I am so sorry that so many people where killed in such a horrible manner. I will never forget what happened and I still can not make myself understand the kind of hate that could do something like this. May God Bless you and watch over the family and friends that you left behind. Rest in peace forever more!!!!!

America Cries
We see your sorrow-
and our hearts cry....
We can not erase your pain
but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-
-the American people-
are beside you.
We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,
the strength that gives you courage,
and the words to lighten your spirits.
And when we are left speechless
may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts
to ease your sorrow.
May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-
-the American people-
face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn

Glenn was our downstairs neighbor and was a truly nice person. We would see him in the morning with his new wife's son, taking him to school or getting him on the bus. He made a good bottle of wine too.
