The family of Gloria D. Haughton is deeply saddened to acknowledge her passing on April 25, 2018 at the age of 87. Gloria was born in Pittsburgh, PA on July 28, 1930, the oldest of four children to the late George A. Dragan, MD and Madeline (Kish) Dragan.
In addition to her parents, Gloria was preceded in death by her beloved husband of more than 60 years, Wilson; siblings, George and Susan, brother-in-law, James Williams, and grandson, John. She is survived by her sister, Carole (Tony) Vogue, sister-in-law, Eleanor Dragan, brother-in-law, Mark Place, and her three sons and their spouses: George (Peggy), David (June), and Wilson Jr. (Sonia); five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Gloria was educated at the University of Pittsburgh where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Nursing Education degrees. She was a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society and Recipient of the Federal Nurse Traineeship Scholarship for graduate study. In 1974 Gloria was named Nurse of the Year, District 3, by the Colorado Nurses' Association.
After working in various nursing and faculty positions, Gloria became Director of Nursing Education at Ohio Valley General Hospital School of Nursing in McKees Rocks, PA. In 1968 she and her family relocated to Colorado Springs where she became Director of Nursing Education at Beth-El School of Nursing. In 1972 Gloria was appointed Vice President of Nursing at St. Francis Hospital, a position she held until her retirement in 1984.
Gloria was very active in her community and served on many boards and committees including: Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees, Memorial Health System Auxiliary, English-Speaking Union (Colorado Springs Branch), Pikes Peak Community College Nursing Advisory Committee, and the University of Southern Colorado Nursing Advisory Committee. She was a long-standing member of First Presbyterian Church and the Colorado Springs Country Club.
A celebration of Gloria's life is scheduled for Friday, June 1 at 2:00 p.m., Swan-Law Chapel, 501 N. Cascade Ave., Colorado Springs, CO 80903.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Ecumenical Social Ministries, 201 N. Weber St., Colorado Springs, CO 80903, or a charity of your choice.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of Abode Hospice of Colorado for their professional and compassionate care.

Word's cannot express how much I miss this amazing lady!
I had the honor of doing her hair for over 30 year's and she was such A wonderful friend . We alway's had so much fun and she alway's brought a smile to my face.
I will alway's hold her near & dear to my heart!
