Grace Louise Gilmore, 97, passed away peacefully May 2, 2023 with her children by her side.
The daughter of Walter Ambler Hammitt and Ida Alena Van Dyke, Grace was born January 21, 1926, in McPhee, Colorado, a small mill town once located in Montezuma County, Colorado. She spent her childhood in mainly Lake George and Woodland Park, Colorado. For the last 77 years, she has primarily resided in Colorado Springs and Lake George. She was married November 1, 1946, in Colorado Springs to her elementary school sweetheart and best friend James Edward Gilmore who preceded her in death after 59 years of marriage.
Grace is survived by her son Samuel Gilmore of Colorado Springs, daughter Patricia Glah of Naples, Florida, and daughter Deborah Smiley of Colorado Springs; two grandchildren James Gilmore of Woodland Park and Rebecca Eisenbraun of Durango, Colorado; and five great-grandchildren: Aspen, Acacia, Addison, Hayden and Emma.
A small service and reception will be held on Monday, May 8th at 10:00 am at Swan-Law Funeral Directors, 501 N Cascade Ave., Colorado Springs, CO 80903. Memorial contributions may be made to Bloom Hospice, Wheatridge, Colorado.

Trish, Deb, and Sam...I´m so sorry for your loss. I have wonderful memories of our visits to Colorado Springs and how kind and welcoming Aunt Grace always was. My heart goes out to you.
