Grant Ellsworth Miller

Grant Miller Obituary

Grant Miller died July 5, 2006 in Salt Lake City, UT. Born October 31, 1926, he was the son of Eleanor H. Miller and James Burney Miller of Iola, KS. He and Vivian Plummer of Cheyenne, Wyoming were married on August 11, l948. Grant attended Kansas University School of Law and was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. Grant and his family moved to Colorado Springs in l958. Grant had a private law practice from l967 until l992. He was an active man with many interests which included reading, art, politics, Native American issues, travel, skiing, music and electronics. He encouraged his family to spend time in the outdoors and taught all of his children how to ski and to appreciate nature. Following the death of his wife, Vivian, Grant moved to Salt Lake City in l994. He became an avid golfer and made many good friends. Grant was a generous man who helped people in many ways. His values live on in his friends and family. Grant is survived by three children: Debbie Hickey of Colorado Springs, Grant Miller Junior of Gilbert, AZ., and Cathie Davin of Franktown, CO. He is also survived by his brother, Larry Miller, of Urbana, IL., and by four loving grandsons and three great grandsons; as well as honorary son Thor Sigstedt of Santa Fe, N.M. Grant was loved very much by his family and friends and will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions made to Care Source Hospice, 1624 East 4500 South, Salt Lake City, Utah 84117.

Grant was a friend and colleague, whose love of the Colorado mountains and quick steps at age 60, led me to the top of a few 14,000 feet peaks for which I will always be greatful. He has that view now. He will be missed.
