Gustave Gagne Obituary

Gus (aged 94) passed away on March 8 after a short illness. He was born on a small farm in Quebec, Canada to Joseph and Marie (Pigeon) Gagne.

In 1946, Gus was married in Welland, Ontario to Simonne Marie Lachance. They recently celebrated their 70th anniversary. In 1953, Gus emigrated to the US and settled in Los Angeles. He needed a crash course in English, but some of Gus's family were already in LA to help. Gus started working in construction with brother Benoit, building apartments. In 1959, Gus moved his growing family to Watsonville, CA. He purchased a 30 acre apple orchard and learned a new trade. He raised his family on this farm for 17 years until the itch to move overtook him again. This time he moved to San Jose, CA. and bought a pool service business. He ran this for 4 years before moving to Colorado Springs, where he lived the rest of his life.

Gus was a fearless, creative and inventive man. On his farm, he invented and built the equipment needed to manage the orchard. His greatest project was designing and building a special tractor for use in the orchard.

Gus was a steadfast husband, father and friend. He was great with all things mechanical and could fix most anything. He was always available to help out.

Gus also loved to travel by car and did many road trips across country to visit family in Canada and California.

Gus is survived by his wife Simonne, brother Gregoire, sister Raymonde and 8 children; Remi, Aline, Luc, Rejean, Carole, Carmen, Dennis and Suzanne. He was predeceased by son Raymond. He was blessed with 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Gus was greatly loved and will be missed by us all.

A memorial mass will be held at 10AM on March 24th at St. Patricks Church, 6455 Brook Park Dr, Colorado Springs. A prayer vigil will be held at 9am before the mass.
