Hans Schalk Obituary

Our beloved Husband, Father, Papa and Friend, Hans Dieter Schalk, completed his earthly journey on July 6. He was born in Neckarhausen, Germany, on April 17th 1951 to Wolf Dietrich and Margarete von Schalk. He immigrated to the United States with his family in 1957, served his country in the United States Marine Corps (Semper Fi!) from 1969 through 1970; He married his wonderful wife, Jan, on July 28, 1978. He was an active member in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where he served in many church positions. Among his many career positions, he was an administrator for the City of Colorado Springs and was a Pikes Peak Highway Manager, and a part-time instructor at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs Graduate School of Public Administration. Hans loved life. During his retirement, he occupied his time doing all the things he loved. He was truly happy, especially as a doting grandfather to his four special grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, daughter, Michele, and son, Chris, four beautiful grandchildren, Hannah, William, Emery and Ashlynn, his parents, sister, Sylvia, and brother, Michael. Funeral services will be held on Friday at the Black Forest Ward building of the Church of JesusChrist of Latter Day Saints at 6950 Shoup Road in Black Forest at 10:00 am. Interment will be at Eastonville Cemetery following the funeral.

Jan and Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. You and Hans were such dear friends to me. He was there so many times when I needed a friend and I was not there for you in your time of need, which I truly regret.
