Harlan Day Obituary

Harlan C. Day passed away peacefully at his home in Widefield on Saturday, September 1, 2007 at the age of 85. Harlan enlisted in the Army in 1940 having a career span of 30 years. Master Sergeant Day is a veteran of three wars, serving in World War II to Vietnam and ending in an advisory position in Saudi Arabia. After his military service to his country, he and his wife retired to Widefield. He served his state for many years as an AARP Senior Tax aide. During this time he brought his invaluable military experience, his passion for hunting and his love of fishing to the Colorado Division of Wildlife. Taking and teaching Hunter Education classes, Harlan became a master instructor and mentor for ten thousand students. Harlan was married to Karolina Berndl and enjoyed a full life with her for 39 years until her passing in May 1997. Harlan is survived by a sister, Dorothy Blackshire of Plano, TX; a sister-in-law, Eleonore Day of Kerrville, TX; a step-daughter, Christa Taylor of Colorado Springs; a step-granddaughter, Sandra Curl and a step-great-granddaughter, Chelsea Curl of Fountain. He has many nephews, nieces and cousins throughout the United States. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 10, 2007 at 10AM at Dove-Witt Fountain Valley Chapel, 6630 S. Hwy 85/87, Fountain. The family will greet from 9-10AM at Dove-Witt before services. Burial will be at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, Denver at 2PM on Monday, September 10, 2007 at Staging Area C. In your 85 years you have touched, taught and been admired by so many. You will be missed but not forgotten.
