Harley Patterson Obituary

Harley, a long time resident of Colorado Springs, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2017. Although he will be missed, we find comfort in knowing he is with the Lord where he is free of pain and suffering.

Harley was born April 17, 1933 in Valhalla, Alberta, Canada to Miller and Olivia(Saunders) Patterson. He is survived by his loving wife Caty, siblings-Jim, Art(Remona), Jack(Kathy), Carol(Jerry) and sister-in law Connie.

Harley's legacy will continue to live on through his 3 children, Teri Mankoff, Barry(Anne), Greg(Natalie): his eight grandchildren, Tyler(Kayleigh), Brennan, Michael(Maggie), Matthew, Mitchell, Lauren(Beau), Kevin, and Hayley; great-granddaughter Laila Grace and a multitude of nieces and nephews.

As a young boy, Harley played both baseball and hockey. He continued playing both sports upon entering Colorado College on a hockey scholarship in 1955. He was a proud member of the 1957 National Championship hockey team, which was inducted into the Colorado Springs Sports Hall of Fame.

Harley married Caty Holcomb on June 26, 1959 in Colorado Springs. The newlyweds moved to Amarillo, Texas where Harley was a player-coach for the newly formed Amarillo Wranglers semi-pro hockey team. He returned to Colorado Springs in 1966 to spend most of his career in kitchen design and cabinet sales for Riviera and later Schroll cabinets.

Harley was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Aubrey and Leonard, sister-in-law Agnes, nephew Laurie and great-niece Rikki.

Memorial services will be held at Grace and St. Stephen's Episcopal church located at 601 N. Tejon St in Colorado Springs.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Harley Patterson Memorial Fund at Key Bank (5725 N Academy Blvd). The fund will provide scholarships for youth hockey players.
