Harry Doak Obituary

Harry Melvin Doak, age 86 left this life with dignity on May 18, 2016. Harry was born, the youngest of five children, on November 26, 1929 in Haswell, Colorado to Ashley and Florence Doak. After graduating high school he moved to his first ranch in the Lincoln/Crowley County area where a friend arranged a blind date with who would be his future wife, Parilee Helton. They married in November, 1951 and went on to have 3 children.

Harry spent his life living his passion which was his ranch. He served his community by serving as Crowley County Commissioner. He also dedicated his time to serving on the Board of Southeast Mental Health. He served there for 19 years and left that position when he moved from Crowley County to Falcon, Colorado in 2014, when he decided it was time to 'slow down'.

Harry is survived by his wife, Parilee, his three children; Harry, Jr. (Lisa), Cherie (Bob), and Jim (Lenna), as well as twelve grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Harry was known and will always be remembered as a good and decent man who loved his wife, his children, and found particular joy and pride in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed visiting and laughing with friends, talking ranching, politics, current events, and, of course, the weather! He could find a joke in anything, but also had a tender side when he spoke of wife, his Lord and all beauty in creation.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Ashley and Florence Doak, two brothers; Bert and Glenn, and two sisters; Gladys Irene and Dessie.

Services will be held on Monday, May 23, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Living Word Community Church in Calhan, Colorado, where a reception will follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to [Southeast Mental Health] or [Living Word Community Church].
