Harry W. Hoth, Jr., entered into eternal peace July 12, 2016. He was born September 9, 1923 in Overland, Missouri to Harry and Priscilla Hoth. He attended St Paul's High School and College in Concordia, Missouri before entering the United States Marine Corps in 1941. He served in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. Harry was transferred to Colorado Springs for officer training at Colorado College where he met his wife, Joan Galligan. They were married in 1946 and made Colorado Springs their home. Harry worked for KRDO AM while attending Colorado College and eventually became the owner of Pikes Peak Broadcasting Company, KRDO AM–FM-TV and KJCT-TV. He retired in 2006.

Harry committed much of his life to Colorado Springs. He led the Junior Chamber of Commerce, served on the City Planning Commission, City Council, and was Mayor of Colorado Springs. He served the community on numerous boards including the Junior Achievement, Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo, Girl Scouts, and the Penrose Hospital Cancer Advisory Board. He was a life member of the Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce and Military Affairs Council. He received numerous awards including Broadcaster of the Year, United States Marine Corps League Lifetime Achievement Award, Silver Spur, and the USA Award for Outstanding Civilian Service to the United States Army. He was inducted into numerous Hall of Fames including Broadcast Pioneers of Colorado, Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo, United States Jaycees Foundation Hall of Leadership, and the Colorado Springs Sports Hall of Fame. On his 92nd birthday, he received the Spirit of the Springs Lifetime Achievement Award.

Harry was a member of Rock of Ages Lutheran Church, the Pikes Peak Range Riders, Pikes Peak Sertoma Club, and Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. He enjoyed fishing at Mt. Massive Lakes and was an avid Broncos fan and golfer.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Hoth; by his devoted wife of 67 years, Joan Galligan Hoth; and his beloved eldest daughter, Janie McKibbon. He leaves loving memories to be cherished by his daughters: Joie Stevens (Burt) of Parker, Colorado; Susie Briggs (Tom), and Patti Hoth (Jimmy Clark) of Colorado Springs; seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren: John McKibbon (Becky), Courtney, Riley, and Sydney; Joni Doherty (John); Jamie Bullen (Dave), Liam, Kieren, and Jensen; Lynne Schmidt (Ben), Carson and Avery; Brad Stevens; Preston Briggs, Davis; and Kellen Briggs (Katie), Brynlee and Carter will remember him as their amazing 'Papa'.

Harry Hoth was a loving husband, an awesome father and grandfather, and a pillar of the Colorado Springs community. He had a strong faith, a generous heart, and great sense of humor. He will be missed.

The family thanks his loving caregivers: Windy, Rhoda, and Wendy.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Rock of Ages Lutheran Church, the United States Marine Corps League, Colorado College, the Pikes Peak Range Riders Scholarship Fund, or St. Paul's College (Concordia, MO).

Patti, I just read about your father. I am so sorry for your loss. I never really had the chance to talk to him much but from what I knew of him, and the times we did speak he was a great man with many great accomplishments. I wish you and your family all the best during this difficult time and always.
