Harvey Eiler Obituary
CSMSgt Harvey "Pete" Eiler, USAF (Ret.), age 80, a resident of Colorado Springs from 1969 to 2005, passed away on Thursday, December 8, 2005 in Los Alamos, New Mexico. Pete served his Nation proudly. As part of the crew of "Buddy, Buddy" he completed 35 combat missions in B-17's. He continued his service in the Air Force and participated in the Berlin Airlift. His assignments included Japan, England, and Vietnam. He was retired after serving 26 years in the United States Air Force and after retirement, worked with the United States Civil Service at the USAFA at the dining hall. Harvey Eiler was born on January 7, 1925 in Frederick, Maryland to Newton Edward and Gladys Alice (Stoner) Eiler. He attended schools in Maryland and married Violet Conway on December 1, 1951 in Newton le Willows, England. Violet passed away in 1999. Pete is survived by his loving daughter Denise (husband Walter) Atchison of Los Alamos and a son Lawrence Eiler of Colorado Springs. Pete is also survived by three sisters: Mary Miller of Thurmont, Maryland, Alice Kolb of Cocoa, Florida, and Margaret Sweeney of Thurmont, Maryland; two brothers: William E. Eiler of Easton, Pennsylvania, and Jack Eiler of Emmitsburg, Maryland; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Shirley Jewell, and his brother Harry Eiler. Memorial Services with Air Force Honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 17, 2005 at the Shrine of Remembrance "America the Beautiful"! Chapel of Roses. Private inurnment will be at the Shrine of Remembrance Mausoleum, Old Glory Columbarium. A reception will follow the services at Oscar's Pub, 6829 Space Village Avenue.
