Helen Collins, 64, died Wednesday, January 6, 2021 in Colorado Springs. She was born January 18, 1956 to Dr. Clark and Helen (Tainter) Collins. Helen will be cremated and interred at Pikes Peak National Cemetery in Colorado Springs.
Helen grew up in West Point, NE and graduated from West Point High School in 1974. She had many jobs throughout her life, including 23 years serving in the United States Navy. After Helen retired from the Navy as a Master Chief, she served 4 years on the Colorado Springs City Council.
Helen was a member of First United Methodist Church. She served her church as a singer, keyboardist and guitarist, and even wrote a song used for church services. Interests included music, adopting rescue dogs, traveling, hiking and camping.
Survivors include her stepmother Evelyn Collins, brothers Craig (Karen) Collins, Dr. Robert (Paula) Collins, Ron (Ellen) Collins, and her special friend, Lewis Major. Helen is preceded in death by her mother (Helen) and father (Clark).
Memorials may be made to Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region, Attn: Philanthropy, 610 Abbot Lane, Colorado Springs, Colorado, 80905.

On behalf of TREA, the Enlisted Association, I wish to express our heartfelt condolences. We pray that you will be comforted in God's loving arms. Our Lord is the source of all strength and comfort. Although it was brief, I appreciated the time we were able to sit and talk.
