Helen "Ann" Hurd, 79, passed away peacefully on June 16 with her family at her side. Ann was born in Gilman, CO to Helen and Roy Bergman on September 28, 1941. She attended CSU and met her husband, Jim Hurd, on the first day of classes. The two were engaged five months later and married June 17, 1962. Ann graduated with a business degree and moved to Colorado Springs where she was a full-time home-maker, a craft wholesaler, an office manager, and a sewing instructor.
Ann never knew a stranger, striking up conversations with everyone and making others feel like family in her home. She was a gifted crafter, designing and making her daughter's wedding dresses, sewing complete suits for Jim, and countless quilts and gifts for her friends and family. She loved the mountains and spending time with friends and family.
Ann leaves behind her 3 children Linda (Alex) Herrera, David (Stephanie) Hurd, Kristi (Chris) McCleary and 7 grandchildren whom she adored: Katy and Lexie Herrera, Sophia and Olivia Hurd, Kaylee, Cammeron, and Carsten McCleary.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, June 22 at 10:00 in the Chapel at Colorado Springs First United Methodist Church with a reception to follow.
