Helen Rosalinda (Thomas) Mitchell, age 98, a resident of Colorado Springs since 1958, passed away November 7, 2022. Helen was born on November 8, 1923 in Osmond, Nebraska and graduated from Osmond High School in 1942. She married Leonard "Mitch" Mitchell on February 12, 1945 and the couple had three daughters.
Helen worked in a variety of businesses including the Colorado Springs Public Schools lunch program, Shepard's Citations Publishing Company and retail positions at ENT Air Force Base and Holiday Inn Gift Shops.
After retirement, Helen and Mitch remained busy volunteering. Helen worked 30 years with Pikes Peak Hospice and Mt. St. Francis/Penrose Hospital. She volunteered in the soup kitchen and she and Mitch also spent countless hours collecting donations and delivering them to the Mission in the San Luis Valley.
Helen and Mitch were parishioners at St. Mary's Cathedral for over 60 years.
Preceding her in death were her husband "Mitch", daughter Mary Kay Jenkins, parents, three brothers and a great great grandson.
Surviving her are daughters Patty (Jim) Romines and Sue Ann (Paul) Lee; son-in-law Tom Jenkins; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Services will be at St. Mary's Cathedral, 22 W. Kiowa St., Colorado Springs, CO on Monday, November 28 at 10 a.m. with a rosary service at 9:30 a.m. Inurnment to follow at St. Mary's Columbarium.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Mary's Cathedral, 22 W. Kiowa St., Colorado Springs, CO 80903.

Helen was a dear friend for over 55 years. I met her through my mother Laverne Hamilton and learned a lot about Helen's wonderful heart visiting others with her. Today she would have been 99 and I will miss talking with her. Our prayers are with your family! Scott Hamilton

I knew both Helen and Mitch from St. Mary's Cathedral, as I worked there for eleven years.
Helen was always so kind and friendly to me. She has returned home to be with Mitch.

We were members of St. Mary´s for many years and Helen and Mitch were wonderful friends from those days.
I walked home from work and frequently passed their house. If they were in the yard they would ask me to come in for coffee, winter, or something cold in the summer. I always accepts knowing good conversation was to be a part of things.
We are so sorry for your loss, but know, too, that Helen is with the Lord and has started her great adventure. We will be praying for you as you reconcile with this loss.
