It’s been a while since her passing, but I just learned of it today. Mrs. Newell was my favorite teacher in grade school, and probably my favorite teacher of all time. She always had a warm and encouraging nature, making all of us feel special. I only wish I could have known her as an adult, and made more memories. I will never forget how she constantly lost her glasses, often looking for them with a pair on her head and another around her neck. What a lovely woman. All my love to her family!

God Bless Helen and all her family. Helen gave so much enthusiasm, and grace to all she met. Her beautiful smile was so sincere and her wit so uplifting. Thanks Helen for all your contributions to the Fine Arts Center and to all who lives you touched including mine. Rest in Peace dear sweet Helen.

My sincere condolences to the Newell family for their loss.
While my memories of the time knowing her are faded, dusty and those of a child, they are also happy ones. The included photo is from one of those days Circa. 1970 at what was then home in NY

The Newell family cared for me for many years, and Mrs. Newell was my 5th grade teacher. I will never forget the classroom and life lessons she taught me.

I am so sad to hear of Mrs. Newell's passing. She was by far the most influential teacher in my life. I was lucky enough to have her for both 3rd and 5th grade and she was my Confirmation sponsor. Her love for learning was contagious and even at a young age every one of her students knew she truly cared. Over the years I had fallen out of touch with her but I often thought of her. Her entire family will be in my thoughts and prayers.
