Helen Osborn Obituary

Helen Holbrook Osborn, 90, went home to be with the Lord on July 21, 2007 at Penrose Hospital. She was born on February 25, 1917 to Corinne and Arthur Holbrook in La Junta. Helen married Paul Osborn August 12, 1939, in La Junta. They had two children Leland and Marilee. Helen lived in La Junta until 1976 when she moved to Colo. Springs to be with Marilee and family. Helen graduated from La Junta High School in 1934. She worked at the Movie Theater and in her grandmother's dress shop as a clerk and buyer. Helen later worked for Sears and Southeast Colorado Power. As an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of La Junta, Helen taught Sunday school and was an ordained deacon. She was a leader of Marilee's Brownie troup and assisted the Mounted Girl Scouts Riding Club. Helen also belonged to Lambda Alpha Lambda. Upon moving to Colo. Spgs., Helen became active a the First Presbyterian Church. She held offices with Artis Lockyer's Woman's Group and was an ordained deacon. Helen was a member and held offices with The Woman's Club. She also worked 7 years for Cub Food as a demo lady until she was 80. The joy of her life was her grandchildren and great- grandchildren. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished in our hearts. She is survived by her daughter Marilee (Ron) Gruber, grandchildren Kim (Dave) Romine; Allison (Allan) Nygren; great-grandchildren, Madison, Ashlee, Dylan and Riley Romine; nephews Gary (Judy) and Larry Holbrook; numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents Corinne and Arthur Holbrook, husband Paul Osborn; son Leland Osborn; brother Elmer (Margaret) Holbrook; grandparents Holbrooks and Sayres; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. A memorial service will be held Thursday, Aug. 9, 2007 at 4PM at First Presbyterian Church, 219 E. Bijou, Colo. Spgs. Memorial donations may be made to the Deacon Fund.
