Helen Phillips Obituary

Helen Louise (Kaaz) Phillips, 100, of Lakewood, CO, went to be with her Lord on March 10, 2013. She was born in 1912, to August and Francis (Splitter) Kaaz in La Crosse, WI. She was trained as a beautician and graduated from Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, majoring in Christian education and music. She met her future husband, Hiram Phillips, there. They married in 1942. Helen served for many years as choir director at Bible Baptist Church. After retirement, they moved to Hillsboro, KS, then Colorado Springs. Helen will be remembered for her loving, compassionate, ways and unwavering faith in God. She was preceded in death by her sisters Esther and Ruth, brother, Sam, husband, Hiram Phillips, and grandson Philip Ludwigson. She is survived by daughters Carol (Neil) Kesselman, of Lakewood, Sharon (Art) Guenter of Eustis, FL, Jenny Phillips of Peabody, KS, and Evelyn (John) Evans of La Junta, CO, 5 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Burial in La Crosse. WI, and Celebration of Life on April 13, 2013, in Lakewood, CO. Graveside Service, Wednesday, March 20, 2013, 2:00pm @ Mormon Coulee Memorial Park. My deepest sympathy. Helen was one of my dearest friends and a dear friend to the members of Legacy and Paul Miller's Sunday School Class at Woodmen Valley Chapel, Colorado Springs.
