Helen Sokol Obituary

Helen B. Sokol lived 85 wonderful years and left her friends and family March 23, 2008. Helen was born August 24, 1922 in Greeley, Colorado where she was raised on a farm. She married John Sokol Jr., who passed away June 1, 1984. Together they had one son, Leland Sokol (Linda). Helen cherished her three grandsons Jay (Lori), Kevin (Amber), and Timmy (Amanda). She also enjoyed her three great grandchildren Jade, Colby and Hayden. She is also survived by a sister. Helen was a florist, and ran the Holly Hall Apartments at the Broadmoor for many years. Her favorite past times were gambling in Cripple Creek, fishing at Bison Fishing Club, and she greatly enjoyed baking and cooking for her friends and family. Helen's wishes were to be cremated, and have no services. She will be deeply missed!

Lee and Family,
Your mom was the best, she got me through
so many difficult times in my life, she would listen and give wise advise, she always had a hug when it was needed. She taught me how to make bourbon balls, and its a favorit of my families . I will always have WONDERFUL memories of her as well as your Dad, they are WONDERFUL people, and I am so grateful they were brought into my life.

All of our family will deeply miss Aunt Helen. Her wit and laugher will always be in my memories. She always made sure when we visited that we had to eat something or at least have something to drink. We shall miss her dearly.
Leland, Linda, boys, and family--If there is anything just let me know. Even if it is just a listening ear or a shoulder for you. I do know how hard it is to lose a parent. It was very difficult when dad passed away, and that has almost been a year. I know there will be times that you will just need time to talk. I'll be there. Remember just give a call or even send an e-mail.

Love, Carolyn, Larry, Jeremy and Katie,...mom also (Aunt Elsie)..She is now at Good Samaritan in Simla and doing pretty well.

Dear Sokol family:

Helen taught me so much about floristry, people and life in general back in the early days of my career. She was a very wise and savvy woman and, of course, a total character. I will remember her and all she taught me until the day I die.
She was a good person and had a good life. I know she loved her family and her friends. It was a privilege to know her.

Truly,

Don Goede, Jr.

I will always remember the great times we all had with your mother. Your sorrow is beyond words , but not beyond caring for a great lady as Helen was. May God be with you and your family as you go thru the days that are ahead. God Bless.
