Helene Harper Obituary

Helene Elisabeth Harper was born February 21, 1920 in Cottbus, Germany to Hans and Margarete Otto. She passed away January 29, 2006. Ms. Harper was a Classical Musician. She married James Harper who was a career serviceman. When she came state side, she lived in Ft. Bragg, NC. and started raising five girls. She made her home as an Army wife at Ft. Lee, VI; from there she went to Munich, Germany and returned to the United States in 1958 to Ft. Carson. After all those long journeys, her husband retired. She was always there for strangers or friends and her biggest thing in life was to make sure everyone was fed. She survived the second World War and survived being a wife to a career serviceman. Now at this time she's looking out for everyone in heaven. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Harper and her cockerspaniel, Duchess, whom she loved dearly. She is survived by daughters: Karin Young, Linda Slagle, and Phyllis Tombs. She has 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Services were held, Thursday, February 2, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home and interment followed at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
