Henry Blackwell Obituary

Henry William Blackwell Sr. was born August 24, 1949 to Ivory May Blackwell in Plaquemine, Iberville, Parish, LA. He departed this life on May 2, 2008 at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs, CO. Henry Sr. enlisted in the United States Army on August 1, 1969. He proudly served in the Vietnam War/Conflict. He met and married Annie D. Jackson in New Orleans, LA. They were blessed with four children Shelley, Henry Jr., Joshua and Terrie. Preceded in death by his grandparents Estelle and Andrew Eallis, one brother. Henry was called into the ministry at the age of 29 while serving under the leadership of the late Rev. James Elders at Beacon Light Baptist Church, Colorado Springs, CO. After twelve years of service as assistant Pastor he embarked on his own ministry and founded House of Faith Miracle Deliverance Church of America, Inc. His most successful achievement in ministry was receiving the consecration of Bishop in March of 1994 by Bishop Clifford Walton (Colorado Springs, CO). Henry Sr. never stopped ministering, he later pursued his personal passion of politics and education. He was elected as Harrison District Two Board member and served as the Board President from 1997 to his retirement in 2005. Upon retiring from the school board he re-united with the Progressive Church of God In Christ #2 as Instructor in Biblical History. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife Annie D. Blackwell; two daughters Shelley R. Matthew and Terrie M. Blackwell; two sons Henry W. Blackwell Jr. and Joshua V. Blackwell; mother Ivory May Harton; one brother George Harton; three sisters Estelle Harton, Joann Franklin and Betty Mason; 6 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 6 PM to 8 PM on Thursday, May 8, 2008 at Progressive Church of God In Christ, 930 S. Prospect St., Colorado Springs, CO. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday May 9, 2008 at New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church located at 5485 Alegre Circle, Fountain, CO. Burial will take place at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, Co.
