Herman Zeigler of Colorado Springs transitioned into eternal life on Wednesday, February 7, 2018. He was the second of five children. He is survived by his wife, Harriette D. Zeigler; son, Herman C. (LaVerne) Zeigler and a host of relatives and friends.
Herman joined Payne Chapel AME Church in 1972 with his wife. He was a proud and active member of the Trustee Board and a member of the Lay Organization and loved to travel to the AME Connectional meetings.
Herman enjoyed baking and cooking. His specialty was Pound Cakes, and he acquired that talent from his father. Some of his other hobbies included fishing, hunting, driving fast cars, and bowling.
Herman was drafted into the Military in 1951 and had an illustrious military career. He served his country in Korean Conflict, and he did a stent in the Army Reserve. He then re-enlisted in the Army at Fort Jackson, and service tours included Germany, Korea, Fort Hood, and Fort Carson. He retired after 28 years of service while stationed at Fort Carson, Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1983.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2018 from 10:00 A.M. - 11:00 A.M. at Payne Chapel AME Church, located at 3625 Marion Drive, Colorado Springs, Colorado, 80909. Funeral Service will be at Payne Chapel at 11:00 A.M. 3625 Marion Drive, Colorado Springs, Colorado.
