Hilda Anshutz Obituary

Hilda Marie Anshutz September 8, 1915 - May 17, 2007. Hilda Marie Anshutz, age 91, of Colorado Springs passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 17 at Pikes Peak Hospice. She was born September 8, 1915 in Manfred, North Dakota, the daughter of Jacob and Christina Wagner. Hilda spent her early youth in Manfred and moved with her mother and siblings to Lodi, California, where she met and fell in love with Donald Clifford Anshutz in 1936, and married him on March 27, 1937. From Lodi they moved to Sacramento, California where they made their home until 1952. Full of adventure, they headed west to Denver, Colorado and then moved to Colorado Springs in 1954. Hilda was not only a wonderful mother, but a devoted and supportive wife to her husband, Don, standing beside him as they built their future for their family. On arriving in Colorado Springs, the whole family worked together at the City Auditorium to bring in Wrestling matches and Country Western Shows. Founded London Aluminum and later started A&L Aluminum Manufacturing that began in the garage of the family home. Every step of the way she was the foundation of the home and the example. She was grounded in tradition and hard work from an early age, and passed this on to her family. She was a talented seamstress, an avid reader, loved history, and loved to travel. She spent the past 12 years at the Medallion West and Medallion East where she cherished her independence. Over the years, Hilda touched many lives and treasured all of her friends. She loved Colorado Springs and looked forward each day to seeing Pikes Peak out her window. She loved "her mountain."Never at a loss for words or conversation, Mother," we will always hear your voice." She wrapped her life around her family. Family was everything to her, and nothing was more important. With years came joy with her grandchildren and then the great-grandchildren. Rest in Peace mother, "from our hands to God's arms."Hilda is survived by her daughter: Virginia (Milton) Bunn of Monroe Township, NJ; her son: Kenneth "Jack" (Debra) Anshutz of Colorado Springs; daughter Mary "Kathy" (Jerry) Gassiot of Montrose, CO; daughter-in-law: Karole Anshutz of Cody, WY; grandchildren: Teri Anshutz, Matthew (Kim) Bunn, Chad (Maggie) Anshutz, Dawniell Gassiot, Jedediah Gassiot, and Marc (Kelly) Bunn; great-grandchildren: Tatiana Anshutz, Katy McNamer, Sydney Gassiot, Andrew Bunn, Jonathan Bunn, Laura Bunn, Jessica Bunn, and Vivian Anshutz; and many nieces and nephews. Hilda was preceded in death by her husband: Donald Anshutz Sr. on January 1, 1991; her son: Donald Anshutz Jr. on February 11, 1978; and grandson Rick Anshutz on October 4, 1989; her parents: Jacob and Christina Wagner; two sisters and five brothers. A visitation is scheduled from 2:00 - 4:00 pm, Sunday, May 20, 2007 at Swan-Law Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be at 11:00, Monday, May 21, 2007 at Swan-Law Funeral Home. Inurnment will be at Fairview Cemetery, Colorado Springs, CO. In lieu of flowers donation may be made to Pikes Peak Hospice Foundation, 825 E. Pikes Peak Ave., Colorado Springs, CO 80909.
