Hosea was my band teacher in Norwood Colo. from 1967 to 1972, he persevered being the only black man in my town by enamoring all his students with his diligence and artistic interpretation of all music, his jazz music collection was welcome in a town of 500 65 miles from the nearest stoplight. I will always love Hosea and his openess, dignity, patience, and intelligence. Hosea was a true artist, and the best teacher I ever had.

My condolences to the family. I was a student of Mr. Haynes back in 1994 or so through 1998. I learned to play baritone and it was a great experience for me up through high school. The persistence to be good at something had carried over to a lot of other things in my life and I will have fond memories of being in Mr. Haynes band. Thanks, you will be missed.
