Ida Carter Obituary

Ida Elizabeth McAllister was called to be with her maker on February 18, 2015. Ash Wednesday in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Ida was the last surviving sibling of the McAllister family of 14 people in Pensacola, Florida. Born on March 22, 1920.

Ida grew up in one of the first homes on Scenic Highway after Bayview Bridge was completed. McAllister's were first settlers from Appalachacola to Pensacola soon after Andrew Jackson freed it from Spain in 1827. In 1863 there were only 83 people who lived in Pensacola and stood by their homes in Civil War times and 5 were McAllisters. Her Aunt Daisy McAllister, Historian, told her stories of Teddy Roosevelts Rough Riders being entertained at their home for dinner on a train stop there, Daisy was missionary to Cuba in 1890's and traveled by steamer to Ft. Pickens when Geronimo was held there.

Miss Daisy had the first Model T and handled all the Spanish Land Grants at the Court House. Her Aunt Minnie Wentworth later was instrumental in developing the downtown Pensacola in 1905 with husband George who was also US States Attorney.

Ida's girlfriends used to ride horses on her Aunt Libby Tart's property across bridges and streams with black swans, where the University of Northwest, Florida is now located.

Her husband Cmdr. Roger Alyn Wolf precedes her death whom she met at Spanish Terrace on Scenic Highway as a young woman .He was a test pilot in the 40's and 50's, and they were stationed at Pentagon, Coronado, Monterrey, Norfolk, and dir. of Pax River Test Pilot Training.

She enjoyed traveling in later years and her family McAllisters were oldest members of the First United Methodist Church in Downtown Pensacola. She married Paul Carter in 1966, who also preceded her in death.

Ida is survived by 4 children, Roger Alyn Wolf Jr. of Colorado Springs, Karen Lynn Wolf of Las Vegas, Nevada, Gregory Lee Wolf of Reno , Nevada, and Lawrence Dale Wolf of Lakeland ,Florida. Six grandchildren Kevin Wolf, San Diego, Calif., Derek Wolf of Colorado Springs, April Wolf Medlock of Colorado Springs, Jayson Wolf McCord of Las Vegas, Jocelyn McCord Lee,Las Vegas and Madelyn Charlotte Feller of Las Vegas, and five great grandchildren.

Heaven has reclaimed one of their angels in sweet Ida.

A Memorial Service will be held at United First Methodist, Colorado Springs, Colorado on March 21, 2015 at 12:00 a.m. at 420 North Nevada Ave. A service to be held in late August at Barrancas Nat'l Cemetery , Naval Air Station in Pensacola, where she will be laid to rest with her husband, Cmdr. Grammy taught me how to body surf in New Smyrna Beach, I skill that I have used from California to Costa Rica. She always made chores fun, like picking up pine cones around her yard by tossing them like basketballs into the trash can. She loved family game night and always treated everyone she met with dignity and respect. Grammy taught me so much through her actions and also through her words, "if you can't say something nice about a person, then don't say anything at all." I will always remember what a sweet and wonderful person she was in my life and will continue to inspire me and my children. Love you, miss you, thank you lord, for the gift of Ida.
