Ida Shelton Obituary

Ida Belle passed away on March 25,2008. She is survived by Connie Doty, her daughter and Buddy Inzer, her son, Cathy Inzer her daughter in law, and Nelle Martin, her granddaughter. Ida Belle was also survived by a small but devoted circle of her "adopted kids" including Denny Baker, Esther Parsons, Jerry Williams and Chris Bowens. A proud Colorado Springs native, she was raised at 815 N. Weber, in Colorado Springs and graduated from Colorado Springs High School. After high school she worked at Colorado College and the Golden Cycle Mill. She tells a story that they gave her a goldbrick and told her if she could lift it, she could have it - she couldn't. Ida Belle married and had two children with Frank Inzer. He was a naval pilot prompting numerous moves to California, Hawaii, Florida, and Tennessee. Belle retired from ENT Federal Credit Union where she met and later married Roy C. Shelton a retired Lt. Colonel and continued to reside in Colorado Springs. Belle was blessed with that rare combination of warmth and strength. Stubborn yet playful and always ready to make light of herself or the situation, even to the end. Belle loved music, especially Robert Goulet, Streisand and Glenn Miller. She loved to glide across the dance floor, design and sew new dresses. She loved and welcomed all critters especially her beloved cats and dogs. She loved embroidery, knitting, reading fiction, making floral arrangements and always making her home a place of beauty. Nothing roused her more than a political debate especially during election season. Although she moved her family and belongings often as the wife of a Navy pilot, her favorite place was Coronado, California. She absolutely loved the Del Coronado Hotel's Pina Coladas! Ida Belle's family thanks all the friends who have expressed their love for her and sympathy for them. We will remember her frequently saying with a smile, "keep laughing and scratchin!" The family will have private inurnment. An open house gathering will be held at 1338 East Parkway, Sunday, March 30, 2008 from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers please contribute a donation in Belle's name to the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region, 610 Abbott Lane, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80905.
