Inez Bristow Obituary

Inez Mae Bristow May 1, 1920 - Sept. 12, 2007. Inez Mae Bristow passed from this life to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on September 12, 2007. Inez was born on May 1, 1920 in the town of Plover, Marathon County, Wisconsin to Paul and Martha Krubsack. Inez grew up on a dairy farm in Wisconsin; she was later educated at Normal School in Wausau, WI. Inez then taught school for four years in a one-room school house in rural Wisconsin before moving to Milwaukee where she completed her education and received a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. In the summer of 1956, while touring the world on a trip sponsored by the Teacher's Association, Inez met the love of her life, Leonard Bristow. After a brief courtship Inez and Leonard married on June 18, 1957. In the fall of that same year, Inez and Leonard moved to California where both of them taught school for the next ten years. Much to their delight, a daughter, Phyllis Lynn, was born to Inez and Leonard Bristow on September 9, 1961. Eight years later, in 1969, the Bristow family moved to Colorado Springs, CO. Inez, an experienced teacher by that time, taught third grade students at Broadmoor Elementary school from 1970-1985. In total, Inez taught elementary students for thirty-eight years. In retirement Inez and Leonard enjoyed traveling. Together they visited all the National Parks in the United States as well as Alaska, New Zealand, and Scandinavia. Inez was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Bristow and her dear sister, Phyllis Krubsack. Inez is survived by her loving daughter, Phyllis, her son-in-law, Robert, her two granddaughters, Patricia and Pamela as well as two sisters, Lois Heyerdahl and Helen Kaufmann, one brother, Eugene, and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of Inez's life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, September 16, 2007 at Rock of Ages Lutheran Church, 120 North 31st Street, Colorado Springs, CO 80904. In lieu of flowers and in view of Inez Bristow's life long passion for education, the family encourages that donations be made in Inez's name to the New Sudanese Education Initiative, 123 Ethan Allen Ave., #9, Colchester, VT 05446. Correspondence may be addressed to the family at: Phyllis Bristow-Johnson, 40 North Cove Road, Burlington, VT 05408.

I remember with great fondness the many hours Aunt Inez spent with Gwen and I. We would walk down to the river, pick may flowers, go swimming and there were many trips to the Eau Claire Dells...a park she always thought of as her own.
