Irene Stober Obituary

After a short illness, Irene Stober, age 91, died August 2nd at Center at Centennial in Colorado Springs, CO, in the early morning hours. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 6455 Brook Park Dr, Colorado Springs, CO, at 10 am Friday, with a reception following. Irene was born February 4, 1922, to Myrtle Katherine and Frank Chinn in Chicago, IL. She grew up in Antioch, IL and graduated from Antioch High School in 1940. Irene worked at Abbott Labs in North Chicago where she met and married George L. Stober in 1942. They resided in Waukegan, IL for 20 years where their two girls, Pat and Diane were born and raised. They moved to Salt Lake City, Utah where they lived for 5 years, a few years in Kansas and finally retirement for George in Ogden, UT. Irene retired from Kmart Corporation after many years of service. She relocated once again after 34 years in Ogden and in 2004 came to Colorado Springs, Colorado where many of her family reside. It was wonderful for her to be close to her family that she so loved. She enjoyed watching Pikes Peak and never failed to see how the mountain changes daily in appearance. Irene was a wonderful artist and shared her love of painting with many people through her hand painted China doll collection, oil on canvas, watercolor painting, miniatures and many crafts over the years! She was an excellent sewer, experience cook, and a great mom, grandmother and great grandmother. She reflected God's love to all and we rejoice that she is free from suffering. She is deeply missed by her family and friends. Survivors include her beloved family: daughter, Patricia (Joe) Frailey of Denver, CO, their son, Gene (Tracy) Frailey with sons Gage and Luke. Daughter, Diane (Don) Boydstun of Colorado Springs, CO, their children 1. Gena Rene Boydstun-Smith and her children, Elizabeth and Clayton. 2. Perry (Stacey) Boydstun with their children, Luna and Presten, and many nephews and nieces.
