Iris Rowley Obituary

Iris Rowley, age 84, went home to be with the Lord on April 16, 2016 surrounded by her wonderful family. She was a mother, homemaker, wife, grandmother, great grandmother and trusted friend who also, years ago had retired from Hewlett Packard.

Iris Irene Bamesberger was born on September 11, 1931 in Indianola, Nebraska to Carl and Amelia (Fichtner) Bamesberger. She was a 1949 graduate of Indianola High School. She married Russell Dean Rowley on February 3,1952 in McCook, Nebraska.

Together, they raised a family and were residents of Colorado Springs for over 60 years. Iris was a longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Iris was a woman of family and faith and will be best remembered for her strength, loyalty and compassion that she had for husband and her family.

She is survived by her son; Mark (Kathy) Rowley of Colorado Springs, and her sisters; Lois (Nile) Leuking of Anaheim, California, Arlene Clapp of Portland, Oregon and Ruth Shields of McCook, Nebraska. She is also survived by her brother; Dale (Janet) Bamesberger of Indianola, Nebraska.

Iris had five grandchildren; Josh (Casey) Rowley, Mitch (Courtney) Rowley, Kimberly (Gabe) Meidinger, and Jana (Patrick) McCullough; and Jason Gentzel, and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Russ in 1998 and her daughter; Cynthia Hope Gentzel in 2014.

Interment, Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 3825 Airport Road, Colorado Springs, Colorado, 80910.

A reception is planned at the family's home.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
