Jack Adams Obituary

Adams, MD
Laurence "Jack" Adams, MD
November 7, 1955
January 25, 2023

It is with broken hearts that we acknowledge the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father, father-in-law, son, brother, and "Dagra". He is home in the presence of his redeemer, the Lord Jesus Christ.
Raised in Pennsylvania, he graduated from Georgetown Medical School, then served with the United States Air Force as a flight surgeon before settling in Colorado Springs where his roots grew deep and strong. Through his practice of medicine with Colorado Springs Neurological Associates over the last 26 years, he helped patients through impossibly difficult times and was honored as one of the top doctors in the city. He considered it a privilege to work with so many talented medical colleagues in his practice and the city.
Jack had many passions including baseball, economics, history, and reading, but was defined by his love and compassion for others. As a true gentleman, Jack stepped onto the field of life and swung for the fences every chance he had - although he would say he was just moving the runners along.
Jack was a husband, parent, grandparent, and friend disguised as a neurologist. His greatest joy was his family. He adored being the loving husband of 43 years to Michelle, proud father to two incredible daughters, Beth and Laura, and their husbands, Paul and Eric. He delighted in his special new name of "Dagra" bestowed by his two grandsons, Samuel and David. He was a loyal friend and mentor to many.
Jack would tell us to live our lives ready to steal second and to always treat your team and competition with respect and integrity. He will be profoundly missed.

Dr. Adams had been my doctor for several years. Every visit he took time to lean back just a little....in the chair...and really took time to listen and talk. He had real conversations with his patients. Best Neurologist I saw. I had seen others at other facilities. Not good experience like I had at CSNA with him. I´m shocked and saddened. Praying that his family finds our loving God holding them close during this time and they feel his supernatural love and peace.

My husband and I were surprised to hear of Dr. Adams´ passing. I was a patient of his. Even though it was a short relationship, he took the time to listen to what I was going through and worked to find that "Ahah" moment. I will remember his compassion. Please know that Dr. Adam´s and you, his family are in our prayers. God Bless!

I just learned of Jack's death from my younger brother in Lancaster this morning. He was my older brother's best friend in school. They played APBA baseball together - both avid baseball fans of the Lancaster teams and the Phillies. - which they kept stats for every game. They went to as many ball games as they had time, money, and transportation to attend. I wish I had known that Jack lived in Colorado Springs where I now also live. My brother passed away many years ago - from a neurological disorder. I'm sure that unfortunate fate wasn't dismissed by Jack in his calling to help others - His death saddens me greatly. I'm so glad he had a good life and a wonderful family as we so often never know what happens to old school friends or how their life turned out once we go our separate ways. I just wish this knowledge came to me under happier circumstances when we could have reconnected. Our condolences.

I was a patient of Dr. Adams and want his family to know what a wonderful human being he was. He was my Dr. for over 20 years. I along with my children (42 and 44 yrs. old) have MS. I've done well and would always talk about my kids and what medication they were on. I would usually walk in with a book I was reading and he would always inquire about it. We discussed books we've read and what authors we liked. I ran into Dr. Adams at a Vibes Baseball game and met one of his daughters. Being a retired educator we talked about his one daughter that was a teacher. Dr. Adams bedside manner was beyond reproach, he took time and interest on how I was dealing with my MS. Dr. Adam was, by far, the most caring and knowledgeable doctor I ever knew. I will miss him very much.
God bless Dr. Adams, My heart felt condolences, Tony Geonetta

Dr. Adams had been my sons neurologist for the last 18 years. We always appreciated his kindness and compassion and the time he took during our yearly visits. I am so thankful that he shared many stories of baseball games he went to with his dad as a young boy. At our last visit in the summer he told us how he was looking forward to going to a Vibes game with his daughter that weekend. It gave us a small glimpse of who he was outside of the office, which is rare for a doctor to do. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends, colleagues and patients. He will be missed.

John and I are stunned and saddened to hear about Jack´s sudden passing. We were blessed to have just visited with him on Tuesday as he continued to help John live with his Parkinson´s disease. John had known him since the mid 90´s while John was teaching at the Air Force Academy. Jack´s focus was always on treating John as a whole person to help him live his life to the fullest. Jack's concern for his patients and sincere empathy was a rare and beautiful part of his work as a doctor. The world was a better place with him in it and we will always feel his absence. We send our deepest sympathy and love to his family.

I remember Jack from residency at Wilford Hall then the USAFA hospital and in private practice here in Colorado Springs. A brilliant neurologist, even keeled, just a great man. He will be missed by family, friends, colleagues, and patients. So sorry for your loss.
