Jack Martin Durliat, 84, of Naples, Florida passed away one year ago today, on Sunday, January 12, 2025. He was born April 1, 1940, in Bowling Green, OH to Cloyce and Ruth (née Koch) Durliat.
Jack was a loving husband to his wife Patricia for 63 years and a loving father to his children Mike (deceased), Mark Durliat and Renee Apfelbeck. Jack and his wife Patrica met in the 3rd grade in Holt, Michigan.
Jack grew up in Holt, Michigan. He attended Michigan State University where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in engineering and a master's degree in business. While growing up in Michigan, he spent many summers around Bowling Green, Ohio, where his grandparents had a farm. As a young man Jack became a professional boxer, going on to compete in the Golden Gloves championship as a heavyweight. Jack was also an avid engineer as a young man, working for General Motors at an early age and before that as a mechanic at a local gas station.
After graduating, he and his then fiancée Patricia moved to California where he began a career with Honeywell. He and Patricia then moved to Dallas, Texas followed by Silver Springs, Maryland. In 1970 Jack & Pat moved to Colorado Springs, where they lived for over 20 years, raising their kids. During this time Jack co-founded a large & successful capital leasing business named Capital Associates, which became one of the leading firms in the industry and eventually went public on the New York Nasdaq stock exchange in 1986.
Jack was a fan of the Denver Broncos, Neil Diamond, Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard and was a gregarious, fun-loving person who enjoyed people. He taught his children the value of hard work and was a true patriot, who supported the men & women of the US Armed Forces.
Jack is survived by his wife Patricia, his son Mark Durliat and daughter Renee Apfelbeck. He is preceded in death by his son Michael Durliat
