Jacob what can I say. I still can't believe it.Its days like today I just sit back and remember all those good times we had together. It seems like just yesterday we were having our first sleep over, shooting bb guns in the back yard, playing hockey in the street till it was too dark to see any more, riding bikes in the creek and so many more memories that will never be forgotten. Along with your memory. You were a best friend that no one will EVER be able to completely take away from me. You a brother to me. You and your family will always be in my prayers and thoughts. Thank you for giving the most ultimate sacrifice so our country could be a better place. Rest in Peace my Friend, Semper Fi

To the Tate Family - My prayer is this poem I wrote will comfort you. It is: FALLEN HEROES - From the time I was conceived God had for me a plan. He wanted me to get involved to help my fellow man. I know some were against it but God knows what is best. Since the day He took me home I've had perfect rest. Heaven is so beautiful I'm walking streets of gold. Now I'm serving others including saints of old. It really was amazing when I walked through the gate, I saw the beauty of this place and I could hardly wait. To come into the presence of the Father and the Son. Hearing Him say to me the priceless words WELL DONE! You should see my mansion it's a sight to see. Jesus had it custom built especially for me. I'm having the best time up here so don't be sad and blue. I'm looking forward to the day when I can usher you into this very special place where freedom's truly free; and you will have the honor to worship God with me.
Thank you Jacob for your service.

Dearest Amy & Baby Jax,

Hold tightly to Jesus, for that is what Jacob would want you to do. He would want you to smile and to laugh and to live your lives, knowing that the three of you will be together again one day. Until that day, rest in knowing that you have your very own precious guardian angel watching over you...loving you, and smiling down on you with happiness in his heart knowing that he is part of you. Though you cannot see him...know that he is there. Christ will keep the three of you united. Hold tightly to Him (Christ)now and always.

Know that you are loved and that many hold you in their hearts and their prayers...now and always...

I know there are no words to say at this time, except how sorry that I am. I truly feel your loss and pain. My thoughts and prayers are with you always. Jacob will never be forgotten.

For you every single soldier
Those who served so honorable
Your life was forever altered
While I’m home safe and free
I stand with grateful admiration
I stand respectful and so proud
I know I’m only a civilian
And I don’t even know if it’s allowed

But I salute you; allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
Even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
My humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you.

For those missing in action;
for those who didn’t make it home.
I know you’re in God’s presence you are not alone.
For every neatly folded flag;
for every shattered family
I will do the only thing I know to dignify your memory.

I salute you, allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
my humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.

I salute you .

The Final Salute

“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.

This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to Marine Jacob Tate our Brother in Arms. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Jacob. And to Jacob it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the ultimate sacrifice he made for his country while opposing enemy forces in Afghanistan. No greater love is shown than a man lay down his life for another. Jacob, you are a brave Marine Warrior, a true Patriot and a national Hero. With your passing, our Country has lost a National Treasure. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.

On behalf of the 1,335 Legionnaire Veterans of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion in Shreveport, Louisiana, I extend our sympathies and our condolences to Jacob’s family and loved ones. Semper Fi !
