Jacqueline Gifford Obituary

Jacqueline T. Gifford age 67, passed away June 16, 2009 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family. She worked for the United States Civil Service as a Logistics Management Specialist. Jacqueline Scarbrough was born November 24, 1941 to Eddie and Anne (Parker) Scarbrough in Columbus Georgia. She was proud of the 43 years she gave to the United States Army through the civil service. Throughout her life she enjoyed reading, sewing and traveling to casinos, and of course finding the perfect sale, but mostly she loved her children and grandchildren. Jacqueline is survived by her children Kevin Gifford of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Kimberly (Daniel) Gray of Tonganoxie, Kansas, Michael (Glori) Gifford of Calhan, Colorado: sister Alicia (Johnny) Holloway of Colorado Springs, Colorado: 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Jacqueline was preceded in death by a daughter, Michelle Dawn Watson, a brother Edward Charles Scarbrough, and her parents Eddie and Anne Scarbrough. A celebration of life will be held in Jacqueline's honor 4:30 Friday June 19, 2009 at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful� Chapel. Inurnment will be private. I'm so very sorry to learn of Jackie's passing. We met when I came to the U.S. Army Reserve Command in 1992. She was a good friend. She will be missed. We used to call her "Momma Jack" since she thought of us as her "kids". We had a lot in common, had a lot of fun, and she told some wild stories. I loved her red hair and wonderful laugh. When I left the USARC, we still sent Christmas cards to one another. I'm sending my condolences, but my heart aches. She fought bravely. She is gone too sone. With love, Dyna Duncan

Today we honored our Mom, and the overwhelming love that was displayed by family and friends was astounding. It was amazing and still is daily to see just how many lives she touched and how many people she made feel special. We will truly miss our Mom, but we are very thankful for the condolences, love, and gratitude that everybody has given. If we can be just half of the person that our Mom was and still is in our hearts, we will be better off than most. We take this time to Thank her for all the love, knowledge, patience, understanding, kindness, basically the core of values that she instilled in everbody she met. Thanks Mom for everything.

Once I heard the news I broke down my heart was so heavy. If you only knew how special your Mom was. Words can't express how I feel, she was such a great person, she was my role model.She always would encourage me when I was going thru family crisis. Jackie was such a dear friend and I loved her very much. My prayers are with you all and I wish I could be there with you all. Just remember your Mom really loved her Kiddo's as she would say.
