James Abel Obituary
Bryce was born July 1, 1946 in Lusk, Wyoming to Adin Lewis and Edna Mae Abel. He grew up on a ranch in northwest Nebraska and loved the ranching life. In 1964 he graduated from Kimball County High School and received his bachelors degree in Agri-Business from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, in 1969.
Bryce served as an officer in the United States Army from 1969 to 1971. He then moved to Colorado Springs and married Carolyn Ramsfield in 1972. His career at Kaman Sciences/ITT Industries began in the fall of 1972 and continued until his retirement in 2008.
Bryce was an avid football fan of the Nebraska Cornhuskers and Denver Broncos. He loved spending time with family, golfing, RVing, and writing poems for the many people in his life. His great sense of humor never left him.
Bryce is survived by his wife Carolyn; daughters Amy (Jeff) Flavin of Hays, KS, and Darcey (Cory) Pierce of Longmont, CO; three siblings - Adrienne (Marvin) Rone, Gayle (Jack) Hytrek, and twin brother Bruce (Mary Jane) Abel. He is also survived by five grandchildren - Megan, Alex, and Jordyn Flavin; and Hailey and Scott Pierce.
Bryce was preceded in death by his parents, sister Annie and brother Darold.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 3rd, at Faith Lutheran Church, 315 Security Blvd.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Faith Lutheran Church or designated to go to a memorial plaque at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo.

wow, I just found out about Bryce passing away. I used to work with him at Kaman Sciences years ago. But I remember it as if it was yesterday. He was a wonderful man. I am so sorry for your loss. Vicki Lee (Schneider)

Bryce was my friend. I enjoyed his sense of humor the most. I will miss his way of calming me down when the Broncos were going through a horrible dry spell. I loved his Christmas poem letters(edited by my friend Carolyn) I truly will miss him. It's so difficult to accept his passing. Love to all his family

Carolyn, Amy and Darcey: My thoughts have been with you the past few days. I remember when he pulled into our farm in Belle Fourche, SD (after his Army tour) and asked me if this was the Abel place. I was probably about 12 years old. I had no idea who he was but with his sun glasses and fancy car, I thought he was a celebrity. No one really wore sunglasses back then! My Dad loved visiting with him and all his nieces and nephews, for that matter. But I really liked him after that visit. Later . . . I remember seeing that wedding picture of you two just as clear as it was yesterday and thought she must have been pretty special to win his heart! Such a nice guy! I will miss his Christmas letters. (I always thought that was so cool that you two shared that tradition.) Take care, you all. Give my best to everyone.

Sympathy to Bryce's family. Bryce was a lot of fun and a long time member of the Wednesday hack attack league. He loved the game of golf and was always there. Also enjoyed working with Bryce at Kaman and ITT.
