To the Batts family. I was shocked and so hurt to here of his leaving. My family and I want to extend our deepest sympathy to you mom and the whole family. We have pretty much know you all since you moved here. When ever I passed the house and I would see him, and didn't have time to stop. I would always holler " Hi dad" and he would wave like he had always knew who I was and hadn't forgotten me. Then there were times when I would just drop by, I was always made welcome and treated like family by all. What a loss. Much love and prayers to you all. And take care of mom.

I will always remember Mr. Batts because we had a bonding relationship on our shift. I will always remember when Mr. Batts use to come out on the main line and STIR the food around and I said "Why you messin' with the food, don't do that!" So, he went back into the kitchen and told Alberta, "Her (not she) hurt my feelings!" Alberta said "who?" He said that one "there, her!" Alberta said, "you want me to talk to her?" He said, "no, I got her number!" I will always remember another line, "My name is James Batts and I need my job!" I really am gonna miss you. Mmmmmmargarita

To the family of Mr. Batts:
I am saddened by this news but happy that I was able to work for and with Mr. Batts for quite a few years at Evans Hospital. I never knew of anyone who had anything other than nice words for him. He was always respectful in all his dealings with his co-workers and respected by all.

Dear Mr. Batts, You have always made me feel welcome into your home. I truly thank you for that. The first time I came to your house to meet the family was over 30 yrs ago and the last time I was there was just shy of 2 months. I always felt like a part of the family. You said to me, "I know your face, it's good to see you". You will be missed!

Mr. Batts, You are really gonna be missed by all those people you supervised all these years. I truly enjoyed all your great stories (sometimes funny) of your life and all your military memories. You always use to say, "I never knew anyone who retired from the Army twice" but you did! Also, you always use to say "No comment" We could never get an opinion. You are a unique person and I hope to see you one day. You will have alot of new stories for me. Your friend, Vicky Laplante, Evans Army Hospital
