James Bundy Obituary

James Arthur Bundy, 79, of Covington County, Alabama passed away after an extended cardiac illness. He was the brother of Edwin and son of Hiram (Bee) and Lizzy Bundy of Red Level. He was divorced and is survived by 4 children, 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Jim was a 1950 graduate of Straughn High School where he and two friends formed a comedy singing trio. He graduated from Southern Colorado State College with a BA in Public Speaking and was a few hours short of a Master's Degree. Jim served 20 years in the United States Air Force, participating in computerized air defense in the Combat Operations Center at Norad. He owned an advertising agency in Colorado Springs and wrote articles for several newspapers. He spent over 35 years in radio including a stint as a disc jockey at KSSS for a big band show in the sixties, announcing local high school sports, Colorado College hockey and Air Force Academy games. He was a radio talk show host at KVOR interviewing dignitaries, generals, politicians, professors and military heroes. He returned to Alabama to care for his mother before her death and bought a blueberry farm. He was known around town as Mr. Blueberry. He loved playing golf and playing music with his friends. His lifelong love of music led him to publish 2 CDs at the age of 70. At age 76, he published his first book, “Of Rebels and Rednecks, The Way We Was�. He was placed in hospice care in May 2009, but by the grace of God graduated from hospice and cardiac rehab returning to Alabama and published his final book, “Brother Robert� at age 78. He is a confirmed hillbilly, singer, songwriter, author, advertising exec, disc jockey, coach, talk show host, blueberry farmer, and veteran. A library dies with him. He was loved and he will be missed. Services will be held at the American Legion Post 80 located at 1852 East Three Notch, Andalusia, AL on Thursday February 3rd at 2:00 pm.
