I knew Jim through the Society for Technical Communication and while working at Digital Equipment Corporation. He was a wonderful mentor and technical communicator. I'll always admire how unruffled he was in the midst of our industry's all too common last-minute deadlines. We could all use more friends like Jim, and I'm truly sorry to hear about his passing. Please accept my heartfelt sympathy.

I had the distinct honor of working with Jim at both Digital and Horizon Interactive, as well as serving with him on the Board for the Southern Colorado Chapter of the Society for Technical Communication. Jim was indeed a dedicated professional, always promoting the field of technical communication. He had a way of sharing information that never seemed condescending, and treated us younger tech writers and editors as professionals. I'm reminded at this moment of Jim's sense of humor, and if I close my eyes, I can almost hear that wonderful, hearty laugh. You will be missed! May God bless Billie and the rest of Jim's family.
