James Downey Obituary

James "Jim" Downey died peacefully in his home on Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 2015, in Colorado Springs, CO at the age of 76.

Jim is survived by his wife of 47 years, Susanne Downey; his two children, Heather Renfro (Scott), Ryan Downey (Kathy), five grandchildren, Riley Downey, Collyn, Ellie, Kara and Evan Renfro; siblings, Richard, Edward and William Downey and Kathleen Reisdorf.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Coletta Downey of Dubuque, IA, his sister Mary Melloy and an infant daughter, Mary Susan Downey.

Jim was born on July 14, 1939 in Dubuque. He graduated from Loras Academy and then spent 5 years at the Benedictine Monastery in Conception, MO. Jim made a career selling insurance for over 40 years.

He married Susanne Pecinovsky in 1968, in Dubuque, where they would begin their lives together. In 1979, they moved to Colorado Springs after falling in love with the area on a vacation.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services will be held Friday December 4th, 2015, 10:00 AM at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church 6455 Brook Park Drive, Colorado Springs, CO 80918 with a reception to follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jim's life.
