James "Jim" Glaser, 85, passed away peacefully in the presence of loved ones on 10 September 2021. He leaves behind his wife of 64 years, Phyllis, daughter Elizabeth (Robert), son James (Joyce), and daughter Eileen (Donnie), Granddaughter Nichole (Jason) Great Granddaughters Haley & Madison, Granddaughter Nikki (Brad) Great Granddaughters Cyndel & Jovie, Grandson Greg (Leah) and Great Granddaughter Jane and Great Grandson Eli, Granddaughters Valerie and Eilleen and Great Granddaughter Braelin and many other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, sisters and in-laws, but most notably his grandson, Brian and most recently, his daughter-in-law, Joyce.

He retired as a Master Sergeant in the US Air Force after serving for 23 years as a Civil Engineer Power Production Specialist. His Air Force career was a life-saving choice growing up in Reading, PA and he thrived in the knowledge and skills gained from serving in the military and passed that knowledge on to anyone who asked or needed help. He served his country honorably and proudly.

He then went on to serve the Colorado Springs community as a Mechanical Building Engineer for District 11 – keeping thousands of students at Coronado High School and later, Doherty High School in a safe and healthy learning environment for 20 years.

Jim's "happy place" was always the kitchen and it didn't matter WHOSE kitchen either! There was never a grocery store he didn't like and his favorite was the Peterson Commissary. Cooking and baking was a passion and many friends as well as professional acquaintances were on the receiving end of his passion! His pies, brownies and those "special Christmas" cookies were always a welcomed treat. Many referred to Jim as "The Brownie Man" and it made him smile.

Jim was the ultimate care giver – selfless to a fault – everyone else's needs came first, to include his Yorkies and he cared for and loved many since 1974!. He made sure God's littlest creatures were well loved.

Services for Jim will be on 7 Oct 2021 beginning at 11:00 with a Catholic Mass Funeral Service at the Peterson SFB Chapel where he was a parishioner and worshipped since 1977. It is strongly recommended that friends arrive early at the Visitor Center to gain access onto Peterson SFB.

Interment will be followed immediately after the Chapel Service at Pikes Peak National Cemetery at 1:00

Friends wishing to attend the service on Peterson SFB, should contact Swan Law Funeral Home for base access instructions prior to 4 Oct – masks are required in all Peterson SFB facilities.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jim's memory to Care and Share Food Bank of Colorado Springs, 2605 Preamble Point, CS, CO 80915 – he never wanted people to go hungry and this was one of his favorite 'pay-it-forward' organizations.
