James "Jim" Russell Henry, age 71, of Germantown, OH, passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2019 in Lakeland, FL. He was born on July 2, 1947 in Dayton, OH the son of the late Zeller & Frances (Eidson) Henry. He graduated from Germantown High School ~ Class of 1965; he received his B.A from Otterbein University; his Master's from Miami University and his second Master's from University of Dayton. He was a retired Teacher & Counselor with the Dayton Public Schools with 30 years of service. Jim was a member of the Germantown United Methodist Church; first Director of Germantown Senior Center and a Senior Missions Advisor with the Westminster Presbyterian Church with 14 years of service. In addition, he was a former member of the Germantown Lion's Club & Historical Society; and a former Trustee of the First Baptist Church of Germantown, and was active with the Valley View Alumni Band and Senior Softball Team. He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years Donna Henry; his daughter Allyson Rose (Henry) Swanson; his sister Martie (Walter) Mycoff; 2 grandsons, Zeller Harrison Swanson and Noah Henry Swanson; 2 nieces Rebecca Pummil and Nadia Mycoff; numerous other relatives and many friends. The family will receive friends 5-8 p.m., Friday June 7, 2019, at the Dalton Funeral Home, 6900 Weaver Rd., Germantown. The Funeral Service will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 8th at the Germantown United Methodist Church, 525 Farmersville Pike, Germantown, with Pastor Gary Wheeler & The Rev. Walter Mycoff officiating. Burial will be at Germantown Union Cemetery. If desired memorial contributions may be made to Germantown U.M.C.
