James "Jim" Kenneth Jones
April 02, 1959 - November 14, 2017
After a lengthy illness, James "Jim" Kenneth Jones died of respiratory failure on November 14, 2017. Born on April 02, 1959 at Fort Knox, KY, Jim grew up in a military family and moved many times before graduating from Cheyenne Mountain High School in Colorado Springs. Jim went on to earn a Graduate and Master's Degree in Petroleum Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, CO.
Growing up, Jim was very active in Scouting where he earned the God & Country Award, and following his family's tradition, attained the rank of Eagle Scout with Palms. Scouting opened Jim's eyes and heart to the many wonders of the outdoor world, enjoying nature would figure prominently in the rest of his life. Jim's passion was fly fishing, and from an early age, he was tying his own flies and building his own rods. Mastering the sport, if there was a fish in the water, Jim could catch it.
Jim was also an incredibly talented artist who could work in any medium whether it was painting, drawing, or sculpting something out of wood or clay. In later years, Jim went to work for the NSA in Colorado before transferring to Maryland for health reasons. Jim was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Colorado Springs, where he met and married his wife, Sandy.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Sandy Jones, sons, Will and Andrew Jones, daughter-in-law, Sarah Jones, father and mother, James H. and Gerry Jones, sister, Jennifer Jones, nieces, Taylor and Delaney, nephew, Hunter, brother, Jeffery Jones, and sister-in-law, Pippa Swannell-Jones.
Jim's positive attitude and incredible sense of humor which he maintained until the end should be a lesson to all of us to live every day to the fullest, and to be able to laugh and smile even when faced with the worst that life can throw our way.
We will miss you greatly Jim, but you will live on in the hearts of all that knew and loved you.

I am so sorry to be reading about Jim's death. My heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time.

I knew Jim through CIG - working with him for many years until he left the company. I am thankful to have known him.

Dearest Sandy and Family,
I can imagine the hole in your hearts after losing such a wonderful husband and father. I am truly sorry for you loss, but can understand completely. My hubby's been with the Lord for almost 6 years. Now Jim is in the best place possible too, in the Lord's arms. Blessings, Beverly C.

To the Jones family, Jim was a great buddy of mine at Cheyenne Mountain Schools. He was such an inspiration on the football team and a great friend. We have lost a wonderful asset to the world!
