James Kinney Obituary

August 6, 1930 - July 26, 2008 James Kinney was born on August 6th 1930 to Gertrude Wengler and James Hugh Kinney in Canton, Ohio. On Aug 6th 1952 he married Ellie Irvin in a private ceremony at James Connally AFB, Texas. He went into the Army and was sent to Korea in 1952. When he returned, he completed his high school education and started his Air Force career. While living in San Diego CA, he received his Baccalaureate in Social Science. After resigning with an Honorable discharge from the Air Force, he worked for the County of San Bernardino, CA, as a counselor for troubled teenagers. While living in San Bernardino, he joined the Army Reserve unit and functioned as a medic. He retired from the Army reserves after over 20 years. Concurrently, he was a CPR instructor for many years and was an active volunteer for the 1984 US Olympics held in Los Angeles California. He enjoyed researching the history of military aircraft and built many models and dioramas with phenomenal precision and authenticity. He was an avid sailor and constructed his own seaworthy sailboat which he sailed Alamedas Bay in Southern California. He is survived by his wife Ellie Kinney, his daughters, Jana Imblum and Lori Peppard, grandsons Tommy Peppard, Danny Imblum, Nicky Imblum and Granddaughters Melody and Jessica Peppard. One grandson, Dallas Tucker.
