James Leslie Sr.
June 13, 1935 - December 10, 2017
James Leslie Sr., was born in Wylam, Alabama; to the union of Prince Albert Hill and Sadie Peavy Owens. He passed away on December 10, 2017 at the age of 82.
He graduated from Westfield High School in 1954. Soon after, he joined the U.S. Army which brought him to Colorado Springs. He was a thirty-year Veteran, a 55-year member of Pikes Peak Lodge #473, Colorado Brigade Color-Guard, Pikes Peak Rangers - Company. B Antlered Guard Department, Pikes Peak Consistory No. 81, Pikes Peak Lodge # 5, and American Legion #1 in Colorado Springs for many years. He did so much community work with any group needing his services. He is also a member of the E-9 group.
Jim was preceded in death by his first wife Mildred L. Leslie, and both parents. His children and Grandchildren were the pride and joy of his life.
Jim was known for his Feisty Spirit, Cowboy attire and deep passion for sports. He loved his Elk family, and his zest of life will live on through them.
He is survived by his wife: Teresita A. Leslie, Daughter: Janet L., son-in-law (Sgt. Major Everette) Morrow, Fountain, Colorado. Son: James L. Jr., daughter-in-law Lorraine Leslie, Fayetteville, Georgia. Daughter: Tiana, son-in-law Sabastien Renard, Griefswald, Germany. Daughter: Tisha Dodson, Philadelphia, PA. Grandchildren: Monike Morales, Tyrell Morrow, Anthony Jon, Sabrina Leslie, Etienne Renard, and Great-Grandchildren: Lailah Lizama, Isaiah Morales.
Visitation: Monday, December 18, 2017 from 4:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M., at Angelus Chapel
1104 S. Circle Drive, Colorado Springs, Co following with Ritual evening services at 6:30 P.M.
Funeral Service: Tuesday, 11:00 A.M. December 19, 2017 at Angelus Chapel following with full Military Honors by Fort Carson Honor Guard.
Interment at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at 11:15 A.M. (Staging area C).
