James Raymond "Jim" Luce

James Luce Obituary

Durango resident James Raymond Luce died of a heart attack in Durango on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008. He was 49. Mr. Luce was born to Raymond and Lucia Luce in Dover, Del., on June 18, 1958. He grew up in the Black Forest area of Colorado and had an upholstery shop in Colorado Springs. After moving to the Southwest, Mr. Luce had a small upholstery shop in Dolores for several years before moving to Durango in 2005. "He was well respected for his excellence in craftsmanship," his sister, Mollie Wolf, wrote, "as well as his uncanny self-taught abilities to tackle and master everything from automotives to computers. He will be greatly missed for his wit, intelligence, kindheartedness and eccentricities." Mr. Luce is survived by his sister, Mollie Wolf, of Dolores; son, Michael Vandeventer; and a niece and a nephew.
